Macao Orchestra holds family concert “Jason’s A to Z of Classical Music”

The Macao Orchestra (OM, in the Portuguese acronym), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents the family concert “Jason’s A to Z of Classical Music” on Saturday, 7 July, at 3pm, at the Macao Tower Auditorium. Remarkable new generation conductor Jason Lai will guide the young audience in learning more about music by telling stories from A to Z with lively explanations. The concert will be presented in English and is suitable for children aged three or above. Tickets for the concert are now available at the Macau Ticketing Network.



Commemorative postmark cancellation service of “Well Link Bank S.A. – NAPE Branch Inauguration Ceremony”

Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at our Philatelic Shop located at General Post Office, from 15:00 to 18:00 on 1st July 2018 to provide the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “Well Link Bank S.A. – NAPE Branch Inauguration Ceremony”.

Health Bureau and IACM implement measures to prevent and control dengue fever

In response to the first local case of dengue fever this year, the Health Bureau is liaising with the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) to investigate the case. The two bodies are also coordinating work to: distribute information leaflets; inspect potential breeding places for dengue-carrying mosquitoes; and – with effect from 20 June – intensify the spraying of mosquito-killing pesticide in the areas where the affected patient lives and where the person works.


Macao scholar publishes the first book on Migrant workers in Macao

Shi Wei, an assistant professor from the Department of Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Macau (UM), recently published a new book titled, ‘Drifting Around China's Las Vegas: Migrant Workers in Macau’. The first book on the subject of migrant workers in Macao, it discusses migrant workers’ tremendous contributions to the economic prosperity of Macao against a background of great changes Macao has experienced since the gaming monopoly was abolished in 2002.


Visitor arrivals for May 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals totalled 2,704,745 in May 2018, up by 5.2% year-on-year. As the number of visitors in April was higher due to the Easter holiday and the influx of Mainland arrivals on the eve of Labour Day, visitor arrivals in May dropped by 8.7% month-to-month. Meanwhile, overnight visitors (1,449,431) and same-day visitors (1,255,314) grew by 5.3% and 5.1% respectively year-on-year. The average length of stay of visitors held steady year-on-year at 1.3 days, and that of overnight visitors and same-day visitors stayed at 2.2 days and 0.2 day respectively.
