UM’s research project awarded grant by National Natural Science Foundation of China

The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has released the list of successful applications for funding for key research projects in the year 2017. After a rigorous process, two projects were selected for funding from more than 100 submissions. One of them was a research project involving Tang Zikang, director of the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering (IAPME), University of Macau (UM); and Xing Guichuan, an assistant professor from the IAPME. The research grant application for this project was jointly submitted by researchers from UM, Zhejiang University, the South China University of Technology, and Nanjing Tech University. They will receive a grant of RMB 12 million over a period of three years.


Mortgage loans statistics – April 2018

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) dropped while those of commercial real estate loans (CRELs) increased in April 2018. With regard to the outstanding balance, both RMLs and CRELs witnessed monthly increases.


FSS Announces the Name List of Special Allocation from Budget Surplus 2018 for the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund System

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) announced today (June 12) the name list of special allocation from budget surplus 2018 for the non-mandatory central provident fund system. This year, a total of 363,382 people are included on the list and 149,924 people are not. Members of the public can visit the website of the FSS atwww.fss.gov.mo, call our 24-hour interactive voice response hotline at 2823 0230, use self-service machines or visit all service points of the FSS for making enquiries.



UM, Zhejiang University sign collaboration agreement to promote training of high-calibre medical professionals

The University of Macau (UM) and Zhejiang University (ZU) recently signed an agreement on full collaboration in the field of life sciences. According to the agreement, both parties will take advantage of their unique strengths and carry out mutually beneficial long-term collaboration in training innovative professionals and high-calibre medical professionals, in applying for major projects in China and Macao, in developing innovative products, and in promoting the development of medical technologies and medical industries in Macao and Zhejiang.


UM’s state key lab holds its 3rd Academic Committee meeting

The Academic Committee of the University of Macau’s (UM) State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI (AMS-VLSI Lab) today (11 June) held its third meeting in the Ho Yin Convention Centre at UM. The Academic Committee reviewed the current situation of the state key lab, highly praised the lab for heading in the right direction, and provided invaluable suggestions for the lab’s future development and commercialisation of its research results.



Consumer Council released its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on Sé Parish

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 11 June for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 13 supermarkets in Sé Parish.
