ARTmusing Summer Workshops 2018 A creative breeze for the warm season

The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents ARTmusing Summer workshops, a series of activities conceived to boost the creativity of both children and their families throughout the holiday season.


Gross domestic product for the 1st quarter of 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2018 grew by 9.2% year-on-year in real terms, higher than the 8.0% rise in the previous quarter. Economic growth in the first quarter was mainly driven by exports of services and private consumption. External demand expanded further, which pushed up total exports of services by 16.0% year-on-year, with exports of gaming services and other tourism services growing by 16.5% and 19.6% respectively; meanwhile, exports of goods went up by 12.8%. Domestic demand recovered, with private consumption expenditure and government final consumption expenditure rising by 4.8% and 2.2% respectively year-on-year; meanwhile, investment declined slightly by 1.9%. The implicit deflator of GDP, which measures the overall changes in prices, went up by 3.4% year-on-year.


Results of survey on manpower needs and wages for the 1st quarter 2018

The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) released results of the Survey on Manpower Needs and Wages for the first quarter of 2018. Survey coverage for this quarter comprises Manufacturing; Hotels; Restaurants; Insurance; Financial Intermediation Activities; Electricity, Gas & Water Supply; Child-care and Elderly Care. This survey excludes the self-employed, as well as insurance agents and brokers not directly employed by insurance companies.





More than 100 Enterprises Participate in Enterprise Training on Food Trade: Giving Full Play to the Advantages of China-Portuguese Platforms to Jointly Open Up the Market of Mainland China

In order to enhance the development of Macao as the commercial and trade co-operation service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, particularly, as a distribution centre for food of Portuguese-speaking countries among the “three centres”, and assist the food brands from Portuguese-speaking countries and Macao food enterprises to open up the huge consumer market in Mainland China, the Enterprise Training on “How to Sell Food & Beverage Products to China” which is jointly organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Macao office of Enterprise Europe Network Central China (EENCC Macao), and supported by EU SME Centre was held today (28th) at the Multi-Functional Conference Hall of IPIM on the 19th floor of Edificio China Civil Plaza. The training attracted more than 100 representatives of local chambers of commerce and enterprises.


New Beijing-Macao agreements to advance reciprocal ties

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, said the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) looked forward to expanding Beijing-Macao cooperation, in order to create fresh benefits for the people from both places.


UM to hold 5th Macau Symposium on Biomedical Sciences

The Fifth Macau Symposium on Biomedical Sciences, organised by the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), will be held from 8 June to 9 June at UM. The theme of this year’s symposium is ‘Precision’. During the event, participants will discuss advanced research studies and the latest technologies in biomedical sciences. Prof Ada Yonath, recipient of the 2009 Nobel Prize in chemistry, who is also an honorary doctor of UM, will be one of the keynote speakers.
