Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 15 May for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 13 supermarkets in Sé Parish.



Macao Joins Global Infrastructure Development The 9th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum to be Held in Macao in June

Guided by the Ministry of Commerce, the Government of Macao Special Administrative Region and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, jointly organised by the China International Contractors Association and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the 9th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) will take place at the Venetian Macao on 7 and 8 June, and will be joined by elites from the political, commercial and academic sectors from home and abroad. The theme for this edition is New Growth Drivers for Better Infrastructure and Closer Connectivity.


Survey on vocational training 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 57 institutions offering vocational training courses in 2017, an increase of 6 institutions compared with 2016. A total of 1,685 courses were organised, down by 1.9% year-on-year. Total number of participants rose by 1.1% to 66,500.


Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – April 2018

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP153.2 billion (USD18.95 billion) at the end of April 2018. The reserves decreased by 2.4% from the revised value of MOP156.9 billion (USD19.41 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-April 2018 represented 10 times the currency in circulation or 81.5% of pataca M2 at end-March 2018.


UM graduate makes MIT Technology Review’s Innovators under 35 list

The University of Macau (UM) is dedicated to nurturing professionals with innovative thinking and international competitiveness. In recent years, many of the university’s postgraduate graduates have been active in the international community, with contributions in their respective fields. This year, Samuel Zeng, a master’s degree graduate from UM, has entered the MIT Technology Review’s list of ‘35 Innovators Under 35 in China’, one of the most authoritative lists of talented young people in technology and innovation, for developing unmanned retailing technology. Innovators who made the list in the past include Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Yahoo founder Jerry Yang, and Linux creator Linus Torvalds.

Consumer Council conducted its third ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 14 May for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 13 supermarkets in Toi San, Ilha Verde and Fai Chi Kei areas in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish.


Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair Celebrates the 10th Anniversary All Macao Enterprises Are Welcome

The Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair 2018, which is jointly organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong, is a significant event that provides numerous business opportunities. The fair will be held in the Venetian Macao and will last for 3 days from 27 July. Enterprises of Macao are welcome to sign up from 15 to 28 May.



GGCT withdraws Travel Alert for the Maldives

Given that the situation in the Maldives has attenuated, the Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) withdrew the Travel Alert for that destination.
