Macao's Base Rate of the Discount Window Lowered to 0.86%

The Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) lowered the Base Rate of the Discount Window today (16 March 2020) by 64 basis points to 0.86%, which was the second time for the AMCM to lower the policy rate within this month.


GGCT issues Level 2 Travel Alert for several Countries

Given the recent situation of the novel coronavirus infection (Covid-19), the Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) has issued a Level 2 Travel Alert to the following destinations:

In response to the most recent situation of the novel coronavirus infection (Covid-19) in several European countries, Hong Kong and Macao authorities have imposed medical observation and quarantine measures for those who were in Europe in the 14 days prior to their entry.

26 Novel Coronavirus Infection Research Projects being funded by the Science and Technology Development Fund

To cope with the development of the Novel Coronavirus Infection, the Science and Technology Development Fund (the FDCT) has previously called for research projects related to Novel Coronavirus Infection from universities, research institutions, science and technology enterprises and scientific researchers, and a total of 74 project proposals were received.


Several cultural facilities to be successively reopened

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will successively reopen several heritage sites, cultural and creative spaces and museums from 16 March (Monday), and will implement various crowd control measures to limit the number of visitors, in order to prevent the risk of novel coronavirus infection.
