Consumer Council released 8th supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the second-half of November on 27 November for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 7 supermarkets in Taipa and Coloane Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.


Macao films Diago and Nobody Nose screened at the “China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival”

The “28th China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival” was held from 19 to 23 November in Xiamen, Fujian province. The films Diago and Nobody Nose, directed by Macao writer Lio Chi Heng, were screened at the “Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Film Festival” session. A delegation of representatives from the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the local film industry attended the Festival in Xiamen on 20 November, during which they exchanged views with representatives of the film industry from all over the world and promoted Macao films.


Employment survey for August-October 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the general unemployment rate for August-October 2019 held steady over the previous period (July-September 2019), at 1.8%; the unemployment rate of local residents was 2.4%, down by 0.1 percentage point. Meanwhile, the underemployment rate was 0.5%, up by 0.1 percentage point.


Unmanned aircraft activities are banned during 20th anniversary of Macao SAR

The Macao SAR Government will ban all unmanned aircraft activities during the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the special administrative region to ensure that the celebrations will take place in a safe environment.



UM signs collaboration agreement with CNSA’s Center for Space Remote Sensing Demonstration

The University of Macau (UM) State Key Lab of the Internet of Things for Smart City recently signed a collaboration agreement with the Center for Space Remote Sensing Demonstration under China National Space Administration (CNSA), becoming the first institute in Hong Kong and Macao to collaborate with a space remote sensing scientific demonstration unit. By signing the agreement, both parties hope to combine their strengths for collaborative innovation and to promote the commercialisation of scientific research results in the field of ground application systems in satellite remote sensing big data, which will be beneficial to the training of professionals and scientific research in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).


UM honorary doctor Lau Sin Peng gives talk ‘100 Years of Macao Teachers’ United Efforts for Advancement of Education’

The University of Macau (UM) today (26 November) held a UM Doctor honoris causa Lecture, titled ‘100 Years of Macao Teachers’ United Efforts for the Advancement of Education’. Lau Sin Peng, honorary doctor of UM and a veteran educator, was the keynote speaker. During the talk, Lau shared her insights on the united efforts of teachers in Macao to promote education in the past 100 years.


MGTO unveils implementation progress of Tourism Master Plan with plan for review next year 26 November 2019

Since the release of the Macao Tourism Industry Development Master Plan (referred to as the “Master Plan”) in 2017, 67 short-term action plans have unfolded with relevant tasks being followed up under the concerted efforts of several public entities and the private sector. The level of implementation reached 81%.


Security Secretary: ‘Sky eye’ surveillance assists crime deterrence effort

The Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak, said deployment in Macao of electronic surveillance cameras in secluded areas and places of potential risk, was believed to have had a positive effect in terms of deterring crime.
