Cultural Affairs Bureau invites the public to participate in the activities to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the inscription of the “Historic Centre of Macao” on the World Heritage List
The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will host a festival “Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the Inscription of the Historic Centre of Macao on the World Heritage List”, on 11 and 12 July, from 10:30am to 6pm, at the “World Heritage Youth Education Base”, located in the Mandarin’s House and Lilau Square. The opening ceremony will be held on 11 July at 11am, at the Mandarin’s House. The Festival features a great variety of activities such as singing and dance performances, special game booths, thematic exhibitions, workshops, and the sale of cultural and creative products. Admission is free and all are welcome to join.

Participation in International Online Conference of “New Life in New Normal in COVID-19”
On June 29, the Nursing teachers and students of Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) participated in an online international conference organized by the Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. Teachers and students from 14 universities worldwide discussed challenges and opportunities of nursing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference included information exchange and emotional communication to broaden their views and actively prepare for the next step of anti-epidemic work.

UM professor appointed associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics
Lam Chi Seng, an associate professor in the University of Macau’s (UM) State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI, Institute of Microelectronics, and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering under the Faculty of Science and Technology, has been appointed an associate editor of the internationally renowned journal IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, through a rigorous review process by the editorial board of the Industrial Electronics Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Prof Lam is the first and only scholar from Macao to be appointed to this position.

UM achieves new breakthrough in nanomedicines’ biofate in vivo
A research team led by Prof Zheng Ying in the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS) at the University of Macau (UM) has discovered the prolonged circulation and elimination mechanism of crosslinked polymeric micelles in zebrafish model, providing scientific support and guidance for the rational design and optimisation of injected nanomedicines. Their finding can help researchers improve the efficacy of nanomedicines and reduce toxic and side effects. The study has been published in Biomaterials, a top international journal in the field.
