MGTO Director engages in genuine dialogue with youths Encourages students to embrace open communication and the world

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hosted the second dialogue session yesterday (3 May) between youths and MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, who shared her experience in participating at conferences and events organized by international tourism organizations. During enthusiastic discussions with students, she encouraged them to dive into open communication with other people holding different stances, build their career in Macao and embrace the world.



IACM joins “Macao International Museum Day Carnival 2018”

The Natural and Agrarian Museum under the Civic and Municipal AffairsBureau(IACM) is dedicated to increasing knowledge and understanding of natural resources and ecological conservation. Over the years, it has played an important role in promoting the conservation of nature to the public. A series of activities will be held to highlight the chosen theme of the International Museum Day Carnival 2018, which is “Hyperconnected Museums: New approaches, New Publics”.


UM to host conference on Portuguese linguistics, literature and translation next Thursday

An international conference titled ‘Confluences in Portuguese: Linguistics, Literature and Translation’, organized by the Department of Portuguese, Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH), University of Macau (UM), will take place between 10 May and 12 May. More than 40 experts and scholars with accepted oral presentations, as well as researchers, teachers, and postgraduate students will gather at UM for three consecutive days to share their research findings, knowledge, experience, and expertise in the area of Portuguese as a Second Language


Announcement of the 36th Macao Young Musicians Competition schedule

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the 36th Macao Young Musicians Competition, dedicated to the categories of Chinese and Western instruments, will start on 23 June (Saturday). The “Competition” will be held from 23 June to 12 July at the Institute for Tourism Studies (main campus) and the Macao Cultural Centre Conference Room, while the “Special Prizes Competition” will be held on 15 July (Sunday) at the University of Macau.



Launching of Guangdong-Macao Cooperation and Development Fund Facilitates Macao’s Integration in Greater Bay Area Effort

In order to facilitate Macao’s integration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area effort and to implement earnestly the Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Framework Agreement, the signing ceremony of the Guangdong-Macao Cooperation and Development Fund took place in Guangzhou today (4 May). The ceremony, which was jointly witnessed by the Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR), Mr Leong Vai Tac, and Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr Chen Liangxian, symbolised the fund’s immediate inception and operation.


Company statistics for the 1st quarter of 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 1,453 new companies were incorporated in the first quarter of 2018, down by 19 year-on-year; total value of registered capital rose by 51.5% to MOP235 million, due to the incorporation of several Transport, Storage & Communications companies with large capital. Analysed by industry, the newly incorporated companies were operating mainly in Wholesale & Retail Trade (582), Business Services (304) and Construction (176). Companies in dissolution totalled 264 in the first quarter, and the value of registered capital of companies in dissolution amounted to MOP117 million.


Monetary and financial statistics – March 2018

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply continued to fall in March, with the share of patacas remained stable. On the other hand, resident deposits dropped from a month earlier whereas loans to residents posted an increase.
