19th Macao City Fringe Festival was concluded successfully
The 19th Macao City Fringe Festival, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was concluded successfully on 19 January. This rich art feast featuring a total of 17 extraordinary programmes and 13 outreach activities during 10 consecutive days earned enthusiastic support from the public. This edition of the Macao City Fringe Festival, themed “Boundless creation will show you around!”, featured artists from all over the world who guided the audience on a journey full of fantasy through the streets and alleys of Macao.

Consumer Council released price survey on 11 festive foods
Consumer Council collected prices of 11 festive foods, including sweets and biscuits, from 24 retail outlets on 17 January. The collected data has been uploaded to the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo) and the ‘Supermarket Price Information Platform’ iPhone and Android apps. Consumers can also check the data through the Council’s official WeChat account.

Many Holidays Fall in Late January and FSS Calls on Residents to Make their Payments as Early as Possible
January is the contribution month of the Social Security System for the fourth quarter of 2019. As of 16 January, there are still about 7,300 employers who have not yet paid the obligatory system contributions for their employees, which accounts for about 34% of the total number of employers who need to pay contributions. The offices of the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) will be closed for the Lunar New Year from the afternoon of 24th January to 29th January, and peak days at the service points are expected to be the working days that follow. The FSS calls on employers to make their payments as early as possible to reduce wait times in queues. Employers using electronic filing service can use electronic payment options; and beneficiaries of the arbitrary system should use electronic channels such as AutoPay, online banking, some ATMs and some self-service machines for their payment.
