Institute for Tourism Studies & Jiangmen Polytechnic sign cooperation agreement

Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) and Jiangmen Polytechnic signed a cooperation agreement at IFT on 2 May. President of IFT, Dr. Fanny Vong and President of Jiangmen Polytechnic, Dr. Liu Zhi Yong presided over the ceremony. Representatives from Jiangmen Tourism Bureau, Guangdong Province are also invited to attend the signing ceremony.


Exhibition “In Love with Macao – Calligraphy and Paintings of Macao” opens this Friday at the Macao Museum of Art

In order to present traditional Chinese paintings, calligraphy and seal engraving in a systematic organization and showcase throughout Macao’s development, the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, organizes the exhibition “In Love with Macao – Calligraphy and Paintings of Macao”, featuring a total of 90 pieces/sets of artworks by painters and calligraphers who lived in Macao or had ties with the city in someway from the 1930s to the 21st century. The opening of the exhibition will be held on 4 May, at 6:30pm, in the Exhibition Gallery on the 4th floor of the MAM.

Wages of construction workers and prices of construction materials for the 1st quarter of 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average daily wage of construction workers in the first quarter of 2018 decreased by 1.6% quarter-to-quarter to MOP785, marking the third consecutive quarter of decline. The average daily wage of local construction workers (MOP971) dropped by 4.5% quarter-to-quarter, while that of non-resident construction workers (MOP676) rose slightly by 0.1%.

The 6th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo culminates in success 11% rise in visitors and 38 agreements signed Secretary Alexis Tam encourages exhibitors on inspection visit to MITE

Organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and coordinated by Macau Travel Agency Association, the 6th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (referred to as the “Expo” or “MITE”) culminated in success on 29 April. The exhibition boasts a wider area, accommodating more booths and exhibitors from a greater number of countries and regions. A total of 40,120 visitors and 305 industry buyers were attracted to the event, where 38 agreements were signed in total. In sum, the Expo highlighted the strengths of Macao as a Sino-Portuguese platform and a major hub along the Maritime Silk Road, as well as its role in facilitating cooperation across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area, with a yield of satisfactory results. During the Expo, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, Alexis Tam, made an inspection visit to various exhibit booths on 28 April and encouraged exhibitors to help promote the cultural and creative industries and the culinary diversity offered by Macao as a Creative City of Gastronomy, by showcasing the new dynamic of tourism, culture, creativity and gastronomy woven together.
