UM graduates Macao’s first PhD student with thesis on Chinese-Portuguese bilingual legal translation

Lu Chi Seng, a PhD student from the Department of Portuguese, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Macau (UM), recently completed an oral defense for his dissertation titled ‘Sustainable Theoretical Framework of Bilingual Legal Translation Based on a Study of the Translation of Social Action Legislation of the Macao SAR’


“HUSH!! Full Music” takes place this Sunday “Music Express” shuttle buses to Hac Sa Beach

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and co-organised by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Marine and Water Bureau, the beach concert “HUSH!! Full Music” will be staged at Hac Sa Beach from 29 April to 1 May (Sunday to Tuesday). In order to facilitate the public travelling to Hac Sa Beach, the organizer provides the shuttle service “Music Express” for the public to reach the concert venue. During the three consecutive days, the organizer invites an array of music bands from Macao and several regions in Asia to deliver a marathon music feast and launches various diversified activities such as HUSH!! GEG Silent Disco, Kill the Silence experimental music festival and music workshops, among others. Residents are welcome to participate.

Grandly inaugurated this morning (27 April), the 6th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (referred to as the “Expo” or “MITE”) unfolded two of its key highlights – the Greater Bay Area: Tourism Development and Opportunities Seminar and the China-Portugal Tourism Networking in the afternoon. Industry operators came from across the globe to conduct insightful exchange and business contacts. The occasions epitomized the function played by Macao as a Sino-Portuguese platform and its role in facilitating cooperation across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area.


IPIM Launches "Subsidy Scheme for Convention and Exhibition" in Late April

In order to create a more favourable environment for the MICE industry in Macao, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) will integrate the “Convention and Exhibition Stimulation Programme” and the “International Meeting and Trade Fair Support Programme” into the “Convention and Exhibition Financial Support Programme” on April 30. At the same time, IPIM will further optimise the application process, and work together with the industry to enhance its competitiveness, attract more overseas conventions and exhibitions to Macao, and promote the diversification of economy and the healthy development of Macao’s MICE industry.


Macao Tourism Mascot First Prize Winner “MAK MAK” debuts Winning entries showcased at MITE from today

A prize-giving ceremony was held today (27 April) to present first, second and third prizes as well as ten merit prizes to winners of the Design Contest for Macao Tourism Mascot. The Design Contest for Macao Tourism Mascot was organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) together with the co-organizers, the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Cultural Industry Fund. The mascot models of the 13 top-rated entries selected at the preliminary stage are showcased at the Macao Pavilion of the 6th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE) starting today. Residents and visitors are welcomed to view the mascot models during the three-day Expo.


Macao signed Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation with São Tomé and Príncipe

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Ministry of Finance, Commerce and Blue Economy of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation today (27 April), with the hope to create mutual success and share harvest in tourism.

Organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and coordinated by Macau Travel Agency Association, the 6th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (referred to as the “Expo” or “MITE”) was unveiled at Hall D, Cotai Expo of the Venetian Macao this morning (27 April). Held from 27 to 29 April, the Expo is staged for the sixth year and marks the largest scale since its inaugural edition. The event presents five key highlights to radiate Macao’s unique strengths as a Sino-Portuguese platform and a major hub along the Maritime Silk Road, as well as leverage the role of Macao in cooperation across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area. Besides a showcase of the local cultural and creative industries, the event highlights what the city has to offer as a Creative City of Gastronomy and manifests the new dynamic of tourism, culture, creativity and gastronomy woven together.
