The Tourism Federation of Cities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area held its first General Membership Meeting Three destinations set to push forward major tasks

The Tourism Federation of Cities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area (referred to as the “Federation”) held its first General Membership Meeting in Guangzhou today (20 April) to confirm an array of major tasks to carry out. The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will join other members in closer partnership to build the Bay Area into a world-class travel destination.

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 20 April for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Horte e Costa, Avenida do Ouvidor Arriaga and Rua da Emenda areas in Santo António Parish.


Inauguration of the exhibition “Typa Anchorage: Names of the Past and the Present”

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the exhibition “Typa Anchorage: Names of the Past and the Present” was inaugurated on Thursday, 19 April, at 6:30pm, at the Nostalgic House of Taipa Houses and was officiated by the Deputy Chief of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R., Xin Jianbo; the Head of the Department of Exhibitions and Museums of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, Lei Lai Kio; the member of the Cultural Consultative Committee, Sam Io Cheong; and the Principal of the Macao Lingnan Middle School, Ao Cam Iong.


Consumer price index (CPI) for March 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI in March 2018 increased by 2.66% year-on-year to 111.67, a slowdown from the 3.12% growth in February 2018. The increment in March was attributable to dearer charges for eating out, higher rentals for dwellings, as well as increasing parking meter rates and prices of adults’ clothing.



IFT to hold Community Day at Taipa Flower City Garden this Saturday

IFT is going to organise the Community Day event on 21 April (this Saturday) in the open space adjacent to Taipa Flower City Garden. Participants can get the latest news of IFT’s programmes and better understand the Institute and Macao’s tourism industry. The Community Day will present visitors a series of interactives activities including demonstrations and experience sessions of cake decoration and mocktail making, games, mini concerts and student performances. Interested parties are also encouraged to approach the admission staff, faculty and students of the Institute in person to get more detailed information.


Fujian and Macao jointly promote multi-destination travel in Australia to tap into international markets

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Fujian Provincial Tourism Development Commission partnered up to promote their destinations in Melbourne and Sydney from 16 to 18 April, encouraging visitations to Fujian and Macao in one trip through the destinations promotions and dinners held. Riding on the mission, MGTO met with leaders of overseas Chinese organizations in the two cities, as well as ran a “Taste of Macao” pop up restaurant and engaged in dialogues with the Australian Film Institute in Sydney, leveraging different means to showcase the myriad experiences offered by Macao as a travel destination with its gastronomic scene and glamorous events.


Macao Museum inaugurates “Treasure from the Deep Sea – Exhibition of Underwater Archaeological Relics of the Nanhai No. 1”

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Museum and the Maritime Silk Road Museum of Guangdong jointly organise “Treasure from the Deep Sea - Exhibition of Underwater Archaeological Relics of the Nanhai No. 1”. An opening ceremony was held on Wednesday, 18 April, at 6:30pm, at the lobby of the Macao Museum, officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian; the Assistant of the Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R., Shao Bin; the Director of the Maritime Silk Road Museum of Guangdong, Zeng Chaoqun; the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Ieong Chi Kin; and the representative of the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Xiao Da Shun. The exhibition runs from 19 April to 31 July and is open to the general public.


April is a Contribution Month and FSS Reminds Employers to Pay Contributions as Soon as Possible

For the social security system, April is the contribution month for the first quarter of this year. The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) reminds that the flow of people at the service point is expected to increase at the end of the month. In order to avoid the peak flow at month end, employers should make their payment as soon as possible, and those who have applied for electronic filing service should try to use electronic payment channels to make their payments. As of 18th April, a total of 12,859 employers have already paid the obligatory system contributions for their employees, accounting for 61% of the total number of employers who need to pay contributions.
