UM admits 24 outstanding local student athletes

This year, the University of Macau (UM) admitted 24 outstanding local student athletes through the Outstanding Student-Athletes Admission Scheme. Grace Chau, director of the Office of Sports Affairs at UM, says that the scheme aims to award outstanding student athletes from Macao who have attained outstanding achievements and to encourage them to excel in their studies and create new records in their sports.


Mr Ho Iat Seng to visit Beijing for official appointment as Chief Executive

The Chief Executive-elect, Mr Ho Iat Seng, will be in the capital from 10-12 September to receive the Order of the State Council confirming the official appointment as the fifth-term Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region.

Monetary and financial statistics – July 2019

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply continued to fall in July with a stable share of patacas. Meanwhile, both resident deposits and loans dropped from a month earlier.


UM develops ‘small-molecule probes’ for better evaluation of AD treatment

A research team from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the University of Macau (UM) has developed a brain imaging tool for patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). It is a new technology for photoacoustic (PA) imaging of Copper (II) in the brains of patients with AD. The study has been published in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. and was highlighted in ChemistryViews.

Macao Yearbook 2019 released tomorrow
