Private sector construction and real estate transactions for the 2nd quarter of 2019
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 3,593 building units and parking spaces were purchased and sold in the second quarter of 2019 as per Stamp Duty record, and the total value of transactions was MOP20.05 billion, up by 94.2% and 90.1% respectively quarter-to-quarter.

UM holds convocation to welcome 3,000 new students Rector Song encourages students to foster a sense of mission
The University of Macau (UM) today (15 August) held the convocation and an orientation seminar for the 2019/2020 academic year to welcome 3,000 new students as well as faculty members. UM Rector Yonghua Song gave the new students their first lecture at UM. During the talk, Rector Song said that higher education experienced great changes in the 21st century and emphasised the inclusion of innovation in higher education. He also encouraged the students to devote themselves to study in order to become innovative individuals with a love for their country, a global mindset, international competitiveness, and a sense of mission to society and to themselves.

According to the statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the proportion of international business in the local banking sector retreated in the second quarter of 2019. At end-June 2019, the share of international assets in total banking assets decreased to 85.9% from 86.3% at end-March 2019, while the share of international liabilities in total banking liabilities fell to 82.1% from 82.2%.
