Papers on Portuguese language studies from UM conference published in international journal

Peer-reviewed articles from a conference titled ‘Confluences in Portuguese Language: Linguistics, Literature and Translation’, organised by the Department of Portuguese, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Macau (UM), have been published in the international journal Diacrítica. The papers were written by faculty members, scholars, and students participating in the conference. The publishing of the articles will help to promote the development of Portuguese literature, culture and translation studies.

Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for June 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitors on package tours increased by 15.2% year-on-year to 779,000 in June 2019. Package tour visitors from mainland China (602,000), the Republic of Korea (53,000) and Taiwan (59,000) rose by 16.9%, 14.4% and 1.3% respectively, whereas those from Hong Kong (14,000) surged by 49.8%. In the first half year of 2019, there were 4,907,000 package tour visitors, a growth of 14.9% year-on-year.



Tickets going on sale for Haojiang Moonlight Night – Dance Drama “Thangka”

Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, Haojiang Moonlight Night - Dance Drama “Thangka”, one of the featuring events of the “Art Macao”, will be presented on 13 September, at 8pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. The performance is organized by the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, and co-organized by the Qinghai Provincial Department of Culture & Tourism and presented by the Qinghai Province Performing Arts Group Co., Ltd. Tickets will be on sale from 1 August at the Macao Ticketing Network.


Consumer Council released 8th supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the second-half of July on 29 July for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 7 supermarkets in Taipa and Coloane Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.



Representatives of PPRD Region Work Together to Actively Promote Plan for 2020MIECF

The “2020 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2020MIECF), hosted by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and co-organised by the governments in the Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Region, will be held in Macao from 26 to 28 March 2020. Representatives of the host’s co-ordinators, namely the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA), travelled to Guangzhou on 19 July 2019 to take part in a meeting with parties from the PPRD Region, regarding co-ordination of the event. The meeting was aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of 2020MIECF by brainstorming and exchanging ideas on the event’s theme, the exhibitors’ products, the event’s technical requirements, and the negotiation and business-matching sessions to be held there.


“Macao Franchise Expo 2019” Concludes with Success

The “Macao Franchise Expo 2019” (2019MFE) concluded successfully today. The number of attendees at the three-day event was comparable to last year. At the Business Matching Area, over 180 business matching sessions were held and 12 agreements signed in the past three days.
