CE to visit Cambodia and Thailand in May

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, is scheduled to visit the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand from 7 to 11 May.


UM’s Macao Fellow Program nurtures outstanding professionals from Macao

The University of Macau’s UM Macao Fellow Program is now open for applications. This program aims to nurture young scholars from Macao and encourage qualified local talent to pursue career development in Macao. Permanent Macao residents with a master’s or PhD degree from a reputable university are welcome to join UM through this program. Since its commencement in 2015, the university has recruited 13 young scholars through this scheme upon a rigorous selection process.

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 18 April for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets in São Lázaro and São Lourenço Parishes.






Business climate survey on restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for February 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that, as spurred by the Lunar New Year festivities, the business of restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade in February 2018 was better than expected. Among the interviewed restaurants & similar establishments, 49% registered a year-on-year rise in receipts in February, up by 18 percentage points from January. The corresponding proportion of Chinese Restaurants (80%) surged by 70 percentage points from the previous month. Meanwhile, the share of interviewed establishments recording a year-on-year decline in receipts decreased by 21 percentage points over January to 36%. The corresponding proportions of Chinese Restaurants (14%) and Western Restaurants (32%) dropped significantly by 68 and 32 percentage points respectively.


Exhibition of new works from MAM’s collection

The Macao Museum of Art (MAM) of the Cultural Affairs Bureau organizes the “Exhibition of New Works in MAM Collection”, which opens on Friday afternoon (20 April), at the Special Exhibition Room No. 4, on the 3rd floor of the MAM. This exhibition features eight vertical scrolls depicting flowers, plants and fruits by painter Zhao Mingshan, a third generation heir of the Lingnan Painting School in Macao, namely “Rustic Charm”, “Elegant Charm”, “ Hydrangea”, “Flower”, “China Rose”, “Lychee”, “Daffodil” and “Autumn Mood”, among others. The exhibition runs until 26 October.
