Consumer Council released 5th supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the second-half of September on 18 September for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 14 supermarkets in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.


FSS Reminds Employers to Truthfully Report and Pay Contributions for their Employees on Time

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) reminds employers to pay contributions of the obligation system for their employees on time. If the payment is late, the employer must pay a late payment interest and can be fined. If an employee leaves the company, his or her employer must report to the FSS in time and stop paying contributions for the departing employee. Otherwise, such improper payment may constitute an act of false reporting of a labour relationship.


UM to hold international seminar on multilingualism on 25 September

An international seminar titled ‘Multilingualism in Greater China, Asia and Beyond: Policies, Mobility and Transculturality’, co-organised by the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre (CPC) under the University of Macau (UM) Department of Portuguese, and the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Chair of Language Policies for Multilingualism at UM, will open on Wednesday 25 September. During the event, experts and scholars from different parts of the world with share the latest research results in multilingualism education. All are welcome.


Seac Pai Van Library officially opens next week Actively promoting reading culture in the community

The Seac Pai Van Library, under the Macao Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be inaugurated on Tuesday, 24 September, at 10:30am, introducing the latest facilities and services of the library. The Library will officially open after the opening ceremony, providing residents quality reading experience and reading space.


CCAC completes investigation of complaint by the Pearl Horizon Condominium Owners United Association

The CCAC has received a complaint from the chairman and members of the Pearl Horizon Condominium Owners United Association, where they alleged that the SAR Government had breached its initial commitment that the Pearl Horizon parcel would be put out to public tender and that the replacement housing proposal put forward by the Government was unable to solve the problems concerning Pearl Horizon completely. They insisted taking over the properties according to the “original legal procedures, duty certificates and horizontal property records” and requested the CCAC to look into the matter.


MGTO organizes first-ever fireworks seminar to reveal preparations behind the curtain of fireworks event

As part of the celebrations for the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Macao International Fireworks Display Contest (“the Contest”) at its 30th edition this year, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) organized the first Seminar of Designing and Producing Fireworks as one of the new program highlights this year.


Macao joins discussions of UNESCO World Forum on Culture and Food held in Italy

Macao was one of the cities invited to showcase the example of UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy at a panel during the first UNESCO World Forum on Food and Culture, held September 12 and 13, in Parma, Italy. The event brought together government officials, international organizations, representatives and experts from around the world to discuss about “Culture and Food: Innovative Strategies for Sustainable Development”.


Results of gaming sector survey 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total receipts of the gaming sector increased by 13.7% year-on-year to MOP304.71 billion. Receipts from Gaming & Related Services grew by 13.6% year-on-year to MOP304.18 billion, with receipts from gaming (MOP302.86 billion) rising by 13.6%, whereas those from food & beverage (MOP541 million) dropping by 4.6%. Interest receipts leapt by 258.3% year-on-year to MOP526 million, on account of an upsurge in deposits and loans granted by enterprises.


Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – August 2019

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP169.8 billion (USD21.02 billion) at the end of August 2019. The reserves increased by 1.7% from the revised value of MOP166.9 billion (USD20.71 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-August 2019 represented 10 times the currency in circulation or 81.1% of pataca M2 at end-July 2019.
