MGTO delivers findings of the Study on the Impact of the Inauguration of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on the Tourism Industry

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) delivered the findings of the Study on the Impact of the Inauguration of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge on the Tourism Industry today (17 December). The report revealed that since opened, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has led to a shift in the travel pattern of visitors to Macao, including less frequent use of ferry terminals. Over 70% of visitors to Macao expressed that they would travel to Macao and Hong Kong in one trip, while more than 60% of them would opt for multi-destination travel. The satisfaction level of visitors to Macao towards the bridge overall neared 90%.




President Xi to visit Macao for SAR 20th anniversary celebration

The President of the People’s Republic of China, Mr Xi Jinping, will arrive in Macao tomorrow (18 December) afternoon to officiate at celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland.



Stamp issuing ceremony and stamp designers autograph session

Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will hold the stamp issuing ceremony of the two stamp issues “20th Anniversary of the Reunification of Macao with the Motherland” and “20th Anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army Garrison Stationed in Macao”, at 12:00 noon on 20th December 2019, at the Lobby of the General Post Office, Largo do Senado, Macao.


Grace period for the Exchange of the 20th Anniversary of the Return of Sovereignty of Macao banknotes and the Zodiac Banknotes

As scheduled, the exchange period for the 20th Anniversary of the Return of Sovereignty of Macao banknotes and for the four previously issued Zodiac Banknotes will end on 19 December 2019 (Thursday). For the convenience of those registrants who have not yet conducted the note exchange, a grace period will be granted between 23 December 2019 (Monday) and 3 January 2020 (Friday) to allow for the exchange of their subscribed notes during business hours at their previously selected bank.



Fitch Ratings Maintains Macao SAR's Long-Term Credit Ratings

According to a press release published by Fitch Ratings today, the international rating agency affirms Macao SAR’s credit ratings (long-term foreign and local currency issuer default ratings) at “AA”, whereas the rating outlook is revised from “stable” to “negative”.


Consumer Council released 5th supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the second-half of December on 16 December for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 13 supermarkets in São Lázaro, São Lourenço and Sé Parishes. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.
