Tourist price index (TPI) for the 1st quarter of 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Tourist Price Index (TPI) for the first quarter of 2018 increased by 6.15% year-on-year to 136.94, on account of higher charges for hotel accommodation and restaurant services, as well as dearer prices of local food products. Among the various sections of goods and services, price index of Accommodation (+19.33%) registered the highest increase, followed by indices of Transport & Communications (+6.57%) and Food, Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco (+4.53%).


“Green Business Co-operation Day” Discusses Eco-development of Tourism and MICE Industries

The “Green Business Co-operation Day” successfully took place on the first day (12 April) of the 2018 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2018MIECF). A series of activities including the “Green Forum” and the Signing Ceremony attracted about 470 participants and facilitated the signing of 29 agreements.


Keynote Speaker Explains the Development Trends of Eco-cities and “Green” Economy

The Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition 2018 (2018MIECF) welcomed a world authority on global climate change, current Vice Chair of “The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy” and former Executive Secretary of the “United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change” (2010-2016) Ms. Christiana Figueres, as the keynote speaker. In the speech she analysed how to provide a better living environment for people via ecological design and construction, in order to strengthen a sense of community and well-being among people.


2018MIECF Opens Creating Business Opportunities and Sharing in the “Green” Economy

The Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition 2018 (2018MIECF), hosted by the Macao SAR Government, is being held at CotaiExpo at the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel for three days from today, with the theme “Shaping of Eco-Cities for Inclusive Green Economy”. Representatives from the governmental, industrial and academic sectors across the world – including countries and places covered by the “Belt and Road” initiative; places in the Pan-Pearl River Delta region, including the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; Portuguese-speaking Countries; and European countries, etc. – have gathered in Macao to discuss global environmental issues and trends, exchange the latest information on environmental protection and technology, and seek opportunities in “green business”.


Government reports progress on public emergency management measures

The Government is to deploy all-out effort to advance Macao’s overall capabilities for managing public emergencies, introducing measures ranging from optimisation of infrastructure and regulatory systems, to incremental expansion of resources and safety promotion and education.






UM students participate in ‘History Meets Heritage’ at Tai Fung Tong Art House

The Department of History of the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Social Sciences recently organised an extracurricular activity titled ‘History Meets Heritage’. The event attracted many UM students. To celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Tai Fung Tong Art House, the students visited the art house and learned about the historical meaning behind its precious exhibiting items. Choi Chun Heng, a Macao artist and a master of Chinese calligraphy; and Liu Daqiu, director of the journal Aomen Huawenbao, also participated in the activity.
