IFT collaborates with Training and Education Department of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Republic of the Union of Myanmar to enhance Myanmar’s human capital for sustainable tourism development

On 29 March, Dr. Fanny Vong, President of IFT and Mr. Aung Thu, Director of the Training and Education Department of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Republic of the Union of Myanmar signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Myanmar’s capital city, Nay Pyi Taw. The objective was to cooperate in promoting sustainable tourism development through enhancing human capital and fostering collaborations in tourism education and training between Macao and Myanmar.




2018 Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme calls for applications starting on 3 April

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) held two promotion seminars today (29 March) at the Convention Center of Macao Science Center to call for new applications from catering and travel agency sectors for the Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme (“QTSAS” or “the Scheme”), which has been carried out for the fifth year. Interested merchants that fulfill the necessary criteria for application may submit applications and related documents to MGTO from 3 to 30 April.


Final report published reviewing response measures for public emergencies

The Government has published today the final report assessing the overall impact of Typhoon Hato and offering suggestions for optimising Macao’s mechanism for managing emergencies.


DSEC launches Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area website

The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) announced the launch of a website for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to reflect the cultural and economic development of the Greater Bay Area cities. The website brings together principal statistical indicators of the Greater Bay Area cities and data about cultural and economic exchanges between Macao and the other Greater Bay Area cities for public reference.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for February 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitors on package tours totalled 597,000 in February 2018, up by 8.8% year-on-year and yet down by 25.6% month-to-month. Package tour visitors from Mainland China (450,000) and Taiwan (56,000) rose by 11.6% and 55.3% respectively year-on-year, while those from the Republic of Korea (46,000) dropped by 6.1%. In the first two months of 2018, visitors on package tours totalled 1,399,000, a surge of 29.3% year-on-year.
