Police to use body-worn cameras to enhance law enforcement work

Starting from 14 March, some of the body-worn video cameras – out of a consignment of 100 – that have been supplied to the police services would be put to trial use, said the Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak.

In accordance with the stipulation of the Despacho do Chefe de Executivo No. 117/2015, the withdrawal period for the MOP10 banknotes (see attached file) issued by Banco Nacional Ultramarino S.A. (“BNU”) (Authorized by Decreto Lei No.40/91/M on July 8) and by Bank of China (Macau Branch) (“BOC”) (Authorized by Decreto Lei No.8/95/M on January 30) will be expired on May 26, 2018. Hence, the Monetary Authority of Macao would like to remind citizens in possession of the aforementioned banknotes to have their notes exchanged at Issuing Banks before the said deadline. The two Issuing Banks have no further obligations to exchange such notes from the public after the end of the final withdrawal period.

Macao Orchestra presents concert dedicated to Dvořák

The Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presented the concert “The Musical Footprint of Dvořák”, part of the Shining Virtuosos series, on 10 March at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. In the concert, renowned Italian cellist Mario Brunello was invited to perform Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor, the only cello concerto by the composer, followed by Legends, Op. 59, No. 1 and the Symphony No. 8 in G Major. An autograph session by Brunello was held at the same venue after the performance, with the enthusiastic participation of the public.



MGTO Director engaged in genuine dialogue with youth Exchange of ideas on forging Macao into a world centre of tourism and leisure and a City of Gastronomy in concerted effort

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hosted a dialogue session between MGTO Director and youth at the Institute for Tourism Studies on 8 March. Under the topic of forging Macao into a world centre of tourism and leisure and a City of Gastronomy in concerted effort, dialogues with university and college students were unfolded around the future of Macao’s tourism industry. Students also raised their questions and expressed their opinions regarding smart tourism, crowd management, Creative City of Gastronomy, tourism promotion, MICE, transportation and more.


UM holds English Festival X to enhance students’ English skills

The English Language Centre (ELC) of the Faulty of Arts and Humanity (FAH), University of Macau (UM), recently held the ‘English Festival X,’ which attracted many UM students. Participants say the festival improved their English language skills and boosted their confidence when using English.


Inauguration of “Women Artists – 1st International Biennial of Macao” on 8 March

Jointly organised by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and Albergue SCM, the exhibition “Women Artists – 1st International Biennial of Macao” was inaugurated today (8 March), on the 3rd floor of the MAM, featuring 142 works from the 1970’s up to the present created by 132 women artists from 22 countries and regions, including paintings, silkscreen printings, drawings, sculptures, installations and videos, among others. The exhibition aims to record and present the creative trajectories and achievements of female artists during this period, as well as to introduce the achievements of female artists from varied ethnic and educational backgrounds and their pursuit of multiple aesthetics, in particular those artists that left their footprints in the artistic journey of the 21st century. The biennial is open until May 13.


Short-term flood control measures proposed for Inner Harbour area

The Government is garnering opinions from different sectors on a proposal to introduce short-term measures to improve flood control and drainage management in the Inner Harbour area.


MIECF Connects Local Enterprises to Global Green Innovation Trends

The 2018 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition (2018 MIECF) is to be held from April 12 to 14. MIECF – now in its 11th edition – has won the full support of local and international environment protection industries. Representatives of local companies which have effectively expanded their businesses through the attendance at last year’s MIECF consider the event an important platform for international green exchange and co-operation. According to them, MIECF has become an increasingly prominent platform in the environment protection sector and offers participants obstacle-free access to the latest international breakthroughs in the field.


Residential property price index for November 2017 – January 2018

The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) started compiling the residential property price index with data from the past three consecutive months, and releases the results on a monthly basis to improve the timeliness of the statistics.
