Exhibition “Strolling and Feeling: Watercolour Paintings of Lai Ieng” opens, depicting Macao landscapes over the years

Organized by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the exhibition “ Strolling and Feeling: Watercolour Paintings of Lai Ieng” was inaugurated on 22 March, at 6:30pm, at the special exhibition room on the 3rd floor of MAM. The opening ceremony was held in a lively atmosphere and was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian; the Assistant of the Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R., Shao Bin; the Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes; the Vice-President of the Administrative Committee of the Macao Foundation, Zhong Yi Seabra de Mascarenhas; the President of Yu Un Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association of Macao, Chui Sai Cheong; the Director of Macao Daily News, Lok Po; the President of the Macau Artist Society, Lok Hei; the Chairman of the Macau Chinese Cultural Friendship Association, Leong Wa; and the artist of the exhibition, Lai Ieng.



Electoral Affairs Commission pays site visits to potential polling stations

Members of the Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election paid visits to three sites under consideration for use on 16 June as polling stations for the election of the members of the Chief Executive Election Committee.



Airport conducts fuel farm exercise

Macau International Airport carried out the “Fire in the Fuel Farm Exercise 2019” this afternoon (22 March 2019) in which all participating entities cooperated closely with each other to resolve the crisis. The exercise was deemed smooth.


CCAC detected crimes allegedly committed by public servants in greyhounds’ incident

In August 2018, the CCAC received a complaint alleging some public servants’ mishandling of the placement of the greyhounds at the Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome Co. Ltd. Following the investigation carried out by the CCAC, it came to light that a division head of the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) had allegedly abuse his power in the process of the placement of the greyhounds and colluded with a public servant and a businessman to obtain unlawful economic advantage in legal acts. Suggested by the Public Prosecutions Office and approved by the Criminal Investigation Court, the division head has been suspended from public duties and coercive measures including prohibition on exit and regular reporting have been taken against all of the suspects.


AACM launches new promotional videos on aviation laws and regulations

The Civil Aviation Authority of Macao SAR (AACM) launched a series of new promotional videos with the aim of educating the Macao residents and the passengers with the knowledge of the aviation laws and regulations as well as removing their misunderstanding on the operations of the industry. The new videos are already broadcasted on AACM’s official electronic platforms and will also be put on the electronic screens in the airport passenger terminal and on the aircraft.


Visitor arrivals for February 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that attributable to the Lunar New Year holidays and the impact of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, visitor arrivals in February 2019 increased by 15.5% year-on-year to 3,545,701, and grew by 3.5% month-to-month. Overnight visitors (1,510,178) and same-day visitors (2,035,523) rose by 8.2% and 21.5% respectively year-on-year. As the proportion of same-day visitors continued to expand to 57.4%, the average length of stay of visitors shortened by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.0 day, with that of overnight visitors (2.1 days) and same-day visitors (0.2 day) both decreasing by 0.1 day.
