IFT and Confraria da Gastronomia Macaense join hands to hold Macanese Cuisine Cooking Demonstration and Food Promotion

On 5 March, Institute for Tourism Studies(IFT) and Confraria da Gastronomia Macaense organised “Macanese Cuisine Cooking Demonstration Workshop by Chef Florita Alves” and invited the experienced Chef Florita Alves from the Association to demonstrate classical Macanese gourmet to local food and beverage professionals. IFT Educational Restaurant will also host a Macanese Food Promotion with Chef Florita Alves from 12th to 16th March. All are welcome to come to taste the unique flavors of Macanese cuisine.



Monetary and financial statistics – January 2018

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, money supply continued to grow in January with a stable share of patacas. Meanwhile, both resident deposits and loans rose from a month earlier.


Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and Local MICE Sector Attends UFI Conference to Attract More Domestic and Overseas Events to Macao

The Union of International Fairs (UFI) held the 2018 UFI Asia Pacific Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on March 1st and 2nd. The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) participated in the conference together with the representatives of Macao's exhibition and convention (also known as MICE) industry so as to jointly promote the advantages of exhibitions in Macao as well as to strengthen the exchange and co-operation between Macao and overseas MICE industries. It was widely believed among the representatives of Macao's exhibition industry that their participation in the conference helped the community learn about the latest trends in various aspects of this sector. Meanwhile, sitting in the same room with leaders of globally known exhibition enterprises and elites presented an opportunity for internationalising Macao's MICE industry, which could spur its development and attract more international event organisers to hold activities in Macao. Clearly the participation had a positive impact in many respects.


UM kicks off FBA Business Week

The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) today (5 March) held an opening ceremony for its Eighth FBA Business Week. The event attracted many UM faculty members and students, as well as industry practitioners. During the ceremony, Wilfred Wong, president and executive director of Sands China Ltd, gave a talk titled ‘Leadership in the New Age’.


Renowned Translation Scholar Held Lectures at MPI

To enhance students’ translation competence, broaden the horizons of both faculty members and students, Chinese-English Translation and Interpretation Programme of the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) recently invited renowned German scholar and theorist in translation studies, Professor Christiane Nord, to give three lectures, which appealed to over two hundred faculty members and students to attend, receiving heated responses.


LRT Taipa line to commence operation in 2019, says CE

The Government was confident that the Taipa section of the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system would commence operation in 2019, said the Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On.


FSS Calls on Old-Age and Disability Pension Beneficiaries to Provide the Proof of Life by the End of This Month

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) said that about 108,000 old-age and disability pension beneficiaries must provide the proof of life this year, of which about 103,000 have already completed the formalities, accounting for 95% of the total. Beneficiaries who have not yet gone through the formalities should do it as soon as possible; otherwise, the related benefit will be suspended from April onwards.



MGTO appreciates support of Hong Kong travel trade by hosting spring luncheon

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hosted a spring luncheon in Hong Kong today (2 March) to express its gratitude to travel industry operators in Hong Kong for their support and contributions in helping Macao’s tourism industry to move forward. MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes led a delegation of the Office to welcome over 100 travel trade executives at the luncheon. The Commissioner for Tourism of the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Joe Wong; Deputy Director of Asia Tourism Exchange Center of China National Tourism Administration, Cui Suxiang, as well as Chairman of Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, Jason Wong, were present in the luncheon along with other guests.
