Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for January 2018
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitors on package tours surged by 41.4% year-on-year to 755,000 in January 2018, attributable to an increase of 49.8% in those from Mainland China (603,000); package tour visitors from the Republic of Korea (50,000) and Taiwan (47,000) grew by 13.5% and 41.0% respectively.

External merchandise trade statistics for January 2018
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total value of export and import recorded double-digit year-on-year increases in January 2018, as the Lunar New Year in 2017 fell in January when exporters, importers and freight companies had more holidays which drove down the trade volume. Total merchandise export for January 2018 amounted to MOP1.23 billion, up by 26.2%; value of re-exports (MOP1.08 billion) increased by 34.8%, with that of Machines, apparatus & parts soaring by 443.5%; however, value of domestic exports (MOP145 million) declined by 14.2%. Total merchandise import grew by 31.9% year-on-year to MOP8.43 billion, of which imports of Construction materials, Motor cars & motorcycles and Mobile phones expanded by 98.8%, 87.1% and 50.1% respectively. Merchandise trade deficit in January amounted to MOP7.20 billion.

The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) held the inauguration ceremony for two heads of division on 1 March 2018. Under the witness of heads of department and division, Ms. Cheong Lai San and Mr. Tong Wai Kit took an oath administered by Director Ms. Ao Ieong U to respectively assume the position of Head of Division of Administration and Finance and Head of Division of Registration of Association and Foundation.
