UM placed among world’s top 6 microelectronics institutions at ‘Chip Olympics’

A team of faculty members and students from the University of Macau’s (UM) State-Key Laboratory (SKLAB) of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI (AMS-VLSI) presented their research findings at the 65th IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) held from 11 February to 15 February in San Francisco, the United States. Seven papers from UM were accepted at this year’s conference, making the university one of the top six institutions in the world with most papers presented at the 65th ISSCC, among which were Samsung, Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Intel Corporation, Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States. This shows international recognition of UM and the university’s leading position in the field in Asia.



IC presents series of activities celebrating the Lunar New Year of the Dog

In order to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the public, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) organizes the “Let’s Celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Dog”.


“Spring Festival Thematic Exhibition in Macao” presented at Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre during Lunar New Year

In order to celebrate the Lunar New Year and promote the traditional local Lunar New Year culture, the Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents the “Spring Festival Thematic Exhibition in Macao”, to be held at the Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre from 15 February to 18 March. Admission is free.



International banking statistics – December 2017

According to the statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the proportion of international business in the local banking sector retreated slightly in the fourth quarter of 2017. At end-December 2017, the share of international assets in total banking assets decreased to 84.2% from 84.6% at end-September 2017, whereas the share of international liabilities in total banking liabilities rose to 79.4% from 79.2%.


Exhibition “Memories of Moments – Macao and Lusophone African and Asian Regions in Photograph Postcards” to be held in Lisbon next month

The exhibition “Memories of Moments - Macao and Lusophone African and Asian Regions in Photograph Postcards”, organized by the Archives of Macao, under the auspices of Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be open from 6 March to 29 June 2018, at the Office of the Economic and Commercial Delegation of Macao in Lisbon. The opening ceremony of the exhibition will be held on 6 March 2018 (Tuesday), at 6:30pm (local time).

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 13 February for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets in São Lázaro and São Lourenço Parishes.



Quota rights set for Macao-HK cross-boundary vehicle travel via HKZM Bridge

The Government announced today that under a specific quota initiative there will be 600 permissions for Macao-registered private vehicles to travel to and from Hong Kong once the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao (HKZM) Bridge is launched.
