Over 130 Employers Participate in the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund System, FSS Launches a Series of Activities to Step Up Promotions

So far, a total of 136 employers have joined the non-mandatory central provident fund system (the System). In order to raise residents’ awareness of the System, the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) is scheduled to hold a FSS Promotion Day event with the theme “Accumulate Funds for Your Future” at Jardim do Mercado Municipal de Iao Hon from 3 to 6 p.m next Saturday (30 March). Besides, from 25 March to 21 April, the FSS will launch a prize-winning game on social media. Participants will have a chance to win a wealth of prizes including tablet PC and Bluetooth speakers, and all residents are welcome to participate.


Agreement between Macao and Portugal on surrender of fugitives due to be signed this year

The Secretary for Administration and Justice, Ms Chan Hoi Fan, said on Monday (18 March) that it was expected an agreement between Macao and Portugal on the surrender of fugitives wanted by one or other of the two jurisdictions would be signed this year. Issues regarding the surrender of sentenced persons from Macao to mainland China and vice versa are still being negotiated.


Consumer Council released latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ Various functions available on website and app

Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 18 March for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 14 supermarkets in São Lázaro and São Lourenço Parishes. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo) or the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app.


Exhibition“Strolling and Feeling: Watercolour Paintings of Lai Ieng”opens this Friday (22 March)

Organized by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the exhibition “ Strolling and Feeling: Watercolour Paintings of Lai Ieng” will be inaugurated on Friday, 22 March, at 6:30pm, at the special exhibition room on the 3rd floor of MAM. The exhibition features 32 landscape watercolours by Macao’s contemporary painter Lai Ieng, in the hope that audience will be able to follow his sketching footprints, discover the beauty of scenic alleys in the city and the charm of local life, and feel Macao’s unique cultural heritage and optimistic spirit through his keen observations and subtle brushstrokes. All are welcome to attend.



30th Macao Arts Festival highlights preview

The 30th Macao Arts Festival (MAF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be held in May. This edition is themed “a tribute to classics”, presenting a rich variety of performances and outreach activities, and inviting the public to appreciate the classics together.


Macao Museum of Art organizes various events and activities in celebration of its 20th anniversary

On 19 March, it marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) of the Cultural Affairs Bureau. On occasion of the 20th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China and the 20th anniversary of the Macao Museum of Art this year, the Museum specially organizes a series of events and activities, including large-scale thematic exhibitions, publication of an album of works selected from its collections, promotion of the “Youth Internship Programme at Palace Museum” and a series of thematic talks and promotional activities in arts education. All are welcome to participate.


“Macao Photo Book – Our 20 Years” is open to submissions

In a bid to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Government Information Bureau today launched the call for photo submissions of “Our 20 Years” – a special event hosted by the photo submissions portal “Macao Photo Book” (https://photo.gcs.gov.mo).


CCAC Completes Investigation of Officials Recommending Employment of Relatives by Office of the Prosecutor General

In December 2016, when attending the hearing at the Court of Final Appeal due to the prosecution of a number of charges against him, the former Prosecutor General Ho Chio Meng pointed out that a few relatives of some officials were employed by the Office of the Prosecutor General. He went further that both the former Secretary for Administration and Justice, Florinda da Rosa Silva Chan, and the incumbent Secretary for Administration and Justice, Sónia Chan Hoi Fan, made phone calls to him and recommended the employment of their relatives by the Office of the Prosecutor General. Soon after Ho Chio Meng’s remarks were reported by the media, the CCAC received complaint letters. Therefore, pursuant to Law no. 10/2000, Organic Law of the Commission Against Corruption of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the CCAC carried out an investigation into the matter.
