Guo Yazhi’s masterpieces to be premiered at 32nd Macao International Music Festival’s concert Nostalgic Lane

The 32nd Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), will present the Chinese music concert Nostalgic Lane on 19 October (Friday), at 8pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. Chinese suona legend Guo Yazhi will premiere his masterpieces in Macao and lead the audience to appreciate this instrument and Chinese music from a whole new perspective. A number of extraordinary shows continue to be staged this week, which are not to be missed.


IFT hosts Motions of Brush and Ink – Calligraphy Exhibition of Ho Lai Sim and her students

The Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) hosted “Motions of Brush and Ink - Calligraphy Exhibition of Ho Lai Sim and her students” in the exhibition area of Team Building from 16 October to 31 January 2019. This exhibition is the very first calligraphy exhibition with pieces of works from both the mentor and the students. The altogether 30 pieces of works being exhibited include regular script, clerical script, running script and cursive script. It is hoped that through the exhibition, the cultural life of students can be enriched, and students' enthusiasm for calligraphy will be enhanced too.


The 23rd MIF and 2018 PLPEX Kicks off in October Taking advantage of the Macao platform to explore business opportunities at home and abroad

The “23rd Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (23rd MIF)” and the “2018 Portuguese-speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macau)” (2018 PLPEX) will be held concurrently on 18 to 20 October at the Venetian Macao. This year, the two exhibitions build themselves on the foundations of the past editions while breaking out of the box, helping enterprises integrate themselves into the “Belt and Road” development and to seize the opportunities arising from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and bring in more business opportunities by taking advantage of the Macao’s role as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSC).


Portuguese art group Andante performs at UM

The Portuguese art group Andante recently gave a performance at the University of Macau (UM). The event was hosted by the Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Center of UM’s Department of Portuguese, with support from Casa de Portugal in Macao.






Lectures by Masters of Culture invites Professor Chen Lai to host “The System of Values and World Vision of Chinese Culture – The Globalization Perspective”

In order to enrich residents’ cultural life and to broaden their cultural horizons, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) organizes the “Lectures by Masters of Culture” programme. This year’s lecture “The System of Values and World Vision of Chinese Culture – The Globalization Perspective” will be held on Sunday, 4 November, at 3:00 p.m., at the Auditorium of the Macao Polytechnic Institute, hosted by renowned philosopher Chen Lai. The lecture will be conducted in Mandarin (Portuguese simultaneous interpretation available). Admission is free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservation for a seat is available.
