A New Avenue to the World of Films 2nd International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao presents a cinematic extravaganza

The 2nd International Film Festival & Awards‧Macao (“IFFAM” or the “Film Festival”) was inaugurated tonight (8th December) under the theme “A New Avenue to the World of Films”, presenting an array of spectacular films lined up by the IFFAM Organizing Committee seven days in a row. A total of 48 outstanding films from the East and West, as well as 16 local film works are screened for public admission at the Macao Cultural Centre, the Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre and the Cinematheque・Passion from 8th to 14th December. The latter are presented under two projects rolled out to cultivate and encourage local filmmakers.

The Opening Ceremony of the 2nd International Film Festival & Awards.Macao (IFFAM) kicked off at the Macao Cultural Centre at 7:00p.m. tonight (8th December), unveiling an attractive programme of films and activities running from 8th to 14th December under the theme “A New Avenue to the World of Films”. About 800 personages attended the red carpet and the Opening Ceremony including the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, Alexis Tam; Director of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and President of the IFFAM Organizing Committee, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes; two of the Executive Vice Presidents of the IFFAM Organizing Committee, namely, President of Macau Films & Television Productions and Culture Association (MFTPA), Alvin Chau, and President of Management Committee of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, José Tavares; Acting President of Cultural Affairs Bureau and Vice President of the IFFAM Organizing Committee, Kent Ieong Chi Kin; as well as internationally-acclaimed directors, celebrities and film industry professionals from around the world, with Hong Kong reputable host Carol Cheng (Do Do) and famed artist Bob Lam being the hosts of the night.




IFT organises “Macao Occupational Skills Recognition System” (MORS) 2017 Gold Pin Competition Award Presentation Ceremony

The 2017 “Macao Occupational Skills Recognition System” (MORS) Gold Pin Competition Award Presentation Ceremony was held today at the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT). Ms. Ng Wai Han, Deputy Director of Labour Affairs Bureau, Mr. Chong Cheok Ip, Acting Head of Licensing and Inspections Department of Macao Government Tourism Office, Mr. William Visser, General Manager of Grand Lisboa Hotel, Mr. Chan Chak Mo, President of the United Association of Food and Beverage Merchants of Macao and Mr. Lei Pou Loi, President of Macao Hotel Employees Association presented awards to the winners.



Tertiary Education Services Office and Macao Polytechnic Institute Jointly Organise the 2nd World Chinese-Portuguese Translation Competition

The 1st World Chinese-Portuguese Translation Competition (WCPTC), co-hosted by the Tertiary Education Services Office of the Macao SAR Government and the Macao Polytechnic Institute in 2017, was an unprecedented event and evoked a strong response. Macao, the Mainland China and Lusophone countries with a total of more than 80 teams, composed of hundreds of teachers and students, were actively engaged and achieved outstanding results. WCPTC played an important role in promoting the Chinese-Portuguese translation education and arousing the interests of students of higher education institutions in Macao and the Mainland China in learning Portuguese and Lusophone students in learning Chinese. To consolidate this achievement and continuously promote the Chinese-Portuguese translation education, the Tertiary Education Services Office and the Macao Polytechnic Institute decided to jointly organise the 2nd World Chinese-Portuguese Translation Competition in 2018, with the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government and the Language Big Data Alliance (LBDA) as the supporting units.



The Monetary Authority of Macao Concludes Exchange Activities with Students of Tertiary Institutes

To facilitate young people’s knowledge on the local financial market, the Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) conducted a series of interactive briefing sessions on its financial statistics and research for local tertiary students in economics or finance-related disciplines.

The Macao International Legal Symposium on Promoting Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Lusophone Countries will take place on 13 December 2017, from 8:30a.m. to 7p.m.,on the 5th Floor of the World Trade Centre Macau, Lotus Room, located on Avenida da Amizade no. 918. This event is organised by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Forum Macao), the Legal Affairs Bureau (DSAJ) and the University of Macau (UM) with the support from the World Trade Centre Macau (WTC) and the Macau Lawyers Association (AAM).
