Due to the current situation with regards to the novel coronavirus infection outbreak, all sports facilities under the administration of the Sports Bureau will be closed from 4pm today (24 Jan) until further notice. Refunds will be made to the organisations and individuals who have made reservations for using the facilities. The Sports Bureau will continue to monitor the outbreak and make appropriate arrangements, and appeals to the public for understanding and cooperation.

In response to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan, the DSEJ has announced that all non-tertiary education schools in Macao will resume classes on or after 10^thFebruary, 2020 (Monday) after the Chinese New Year holiday. Schools have to make preparations for students to study at home. Private tutorial centres and continuing education institutions must also postpone their resumption date to 10^th February (Monday) or after. During this period, the DSEJ will continue to closely monitor the development of the epidemic situation and make corresponding arrangements in due course.

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, today announced the Government would for the time being cancel all large-scale public events it had planned to hold. This was in order to strengthen control measures – already in place – to prevent an outbreak of disease from spreading in the community and to protect further the safety of the public.
