Seminar on Trust in mixed and civil law jurisdictions

The Legal and Judicial Training Centre is going to organise a four-day seminar on “Trust in mixed and civil law jurisdictions” that is going to take place at the multi-purpose hall of the Civil Service Training Centre located on Alameda Dr. Carlos D’ Assumpção Cheng Feng Commercial Centre, 6th floor, on December 4th to 7th.



UM wins top three prizes at national machine translation competition

The neural-based machine translation (UM-MT) systems, developed by the Natural Language Processing and Portuguese-Chinese Machine Translation (NLP2CT) Laboratory of the University of Macau (UM), recently won the first, second, third, and fifth prizes in the constraint English-to-Chinese machine translation campaign organised under the 13th China Workshop on Machine Translation (CWMT 2017).

DSI introduces online application service for the Certificate of Association

Following the introduction of the online application for the Certificate of Criminal Record, the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) extended the online application service to the Certificate of Association and put it into trial use on 17 November 2017. DSI officially launched the online application service for the Certificate of Association today. From now on, citizens can lodge online application on DSI’s website for the Certificate of Existence of Registration Record, the Certificate of Leadership Structure of Association, and the certificate for the election of the Chief Executive, the indirect election of the Legislative Assembly and the renewal of recognition of the sector to which the legal person belong.


MPI invites applications to enrol on its undergraduate programmes for 2018/19

Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) will soon accept applications from prospective local students for 2018/19 entry to undergraduate programmes. Graduating senior high school students and working professionals who wish to pursue further studies are invited to apply from 4 December 2017 to 19 January 2018. With the aim of cultivating multi-faceted talents well versed in Chinese, Portuguese and English who can contribute to the realisation of Macao’s ‘One Centre, One Platform’ development goal, in recent years MPI’s various undergraduate programmes have offered numerous opportunities for students to gain international educational experience during their four years of learning.


“2017 Macao International Parade” VIVA Ambassadors take volunteer oath on Saturday

The “2017 Macao International Parade”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) in celebration of the 18th anniversary of Macao’s handover to China, will be held on Sunday, 17 December 2017. This year, IC has once again joined hands with several local associations and organisations to recruit VIVA Ambassadors for providing assistance during the event. All VIVA Ambassadors will declare their commitment to the event in an oath ceremony, to be held on Saturday, 2 December 2017, at 3pm, at the Largo da Companhia de Jesus.



Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for October 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that benefited from the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, visitors on package tours rose by 16.3% year-on-year to 799,000 in October 2017, with a month-to-month increase of 6.0%. Package tour visitors from Mainland China (647,000), the Republic of Korea (40,000) and Taiwan (43,000) went up by 17.0%, 29.2% and 11.8% respectively year-on-year. In the first ten months of 2017, visitors on package tours totalled 6,804,000, up by 11.5% year-on-year.
