Riders and Drivers Switch the Track for the Pitch for Pre-Grand Prix Football Penalty Shootout

Ahead of this week’s Suncity Group 64th Macau Grand Prix, the drivers and riders from the four headline races swapped the race track for the football pitch pre-event penalty shootout contest. Joining their motorsport heroes at the Olympic Sports Centre on Taipa for the football-themed friendly were students from a local school.

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 15 November for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Horte e Costa, Avenida do Ouvidor Arriaga and Rua da Emenda areas in Santo António Parish.


Director of Macao Economic Services introduces entrepreneurship concepts to IFT students

The entrepreneurship course led by Dr. Fernando Lourenço of the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) were delighted to have Director of the Macao Economic Services (DSE), Mr. Tai Kin Ip, to offer a talk on entrepreneurship for IFT students. During the talk, Director Tai provided students for the information and ideas of being entrepreneurs, and the resources and conditions that entrepreneurs need and encounter, as well as the service that DES offers including the Young Entrepreneurs Aid Scheme, Business Incubator Centre for Young People, The Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre for young entrepreneurs in China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries which will be launched in next week, and many other services and policies aiming to help young entrepreneurs and their entrepreneurial career.


MPI to Organise the “9th Higher Education International Conference on the New Developments of Teaching and Learning Quality Assurance in Higher Education”

In order to learn about the latest trends of international quality assurance and best practices of international institutions and thereby promote the advancement of the quality of higher education in Macao, Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) and the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) are jointly organising “The 9thHigher Education International Conference on the New Developments of Teaching and Learning Quality Assurance in Higher Education”, which will be held at MPI on 22-23 November 2017. The conference will feature keynote speeches by Professor Jianxin Zhang, President of APQN; Professor Luís Filipe Menezes, Vice-Rector of the University of Coimbra, Portugal; Professor José Sarsfield Cabral, Member of the Board of the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES), Portugal; and Ms Dorte Kristoffersen, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ). The conference will also feature a teaching and learning enhancement workshop by Professor Robin Snell, the Director of Service Learning at Lingnan University, Hong Kong, on various issues related to teaching and learning quality and the latest developments in Quality Assurance.


Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – October 2017

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP156.9 billion (USD19.53 billion) at the end of October 2017. The reserves decreased by 0.5% from the revised value of MOP157.7 billion (USD19.60 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-October 2017 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 87.2% of pataca M2 at end-September 2017.
