Inauguration of exhibition “Fiction and Drift – Paintings by Jorge Martins”

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government and co-organized by Galeria Arte Periférica in Portugal, the exhibition “Fiction and Drift - Paintings by Jorge Martins” was inaugurated on Friday, 10 November, at 6:30pm, at the Tap Seac Gallery. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Assistant of the Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R., Shao Bin; the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, Kent Ieong Chi Kin; the Legal Advisor of the Albergue SCM, Bruno Nunes; the Coordinator of the Centre for Creative Industries, Lúcia Lemos; and the artist Jorge Martins. The exhibition is open from 11 November 2017 to 4 March 2018 and is open to the general public.


He Jingtang gives Doctor honoris causa Lecture on how to create a beautiful life

The University of Macau (UM) today (10 November) held a Doctor honoris causa Lecture. Academician He Jingtang, a recipient of an honorary doctorate from UM and a world-renowned architect, was the keynote speaker. The event attracted many UM faculty members and students, secondary school teachers and students, industry practitioners, as well as prominent members of the community. During the talk, He shared his life experiences and discussed how one can create a beautiful future for oneself and his country.




UM Honorary Doctor Binglin Zhong gives talk on current and future development of higher education in mainland China

The University of Macau (UM) today (10 November) held a Doctor honoris causa Lecture titled ‘Higher Education in the Chinese Mainland: the Present and the Future’. Binglin Zhong, recipient of an honorary doctorate from UM, president of the Chinese Society of Education, and former president of Beijing Normal University, was the keynote speaker. During the talk, he discussed the current and future development of higher education in mainland China from different perspectives. The talk attracted many UM faculty members and students, secondary school teachers and students, experts and scholars from the education industry, as well as prominent members of the community. Zhong thinks the current educational philosophy and model need to keep pace with the new trends, and he praises UM’s ‘4-in-1’ model of education.


DSI introduces online application service for Certificate of Criminal Record

Identification Services Bureau (DSI) has been extending online services proactively in line with the governance principles of the Special Administrative Region Government to develop electronic administration. On 10 November 2017, DSI officially launches the online application service for the Certificate of Criminal Record.



Demographic statistics for the 3rd quarter of 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the total population was 648,500 as at end-September 2017, a slight increase of 100 quarter-to-quarter; female population (343,400) accounted for 53.0% of the total.
