Credit card statistics – 3rd quarter 2017

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the total number of personal credit cards issued by banks in Macao continued to rise in the third quarter of 2017. Both the credit card turnover and total repayments registered year-on-year growth.


Brighter Future Student Awards launch ceremony to be held at UM on Wednesday

The launch ceremony for the first Brighter Future Student Awards will be held at the University of Macau (UM) on Wednesday 8 November. The event is co-organised by a local law firm, MdME Lawyers, and its international network in Portuguese-speaking countries, MLGTS Legal Circle (with offices in Portugal, Angola and Mozambique), UM’s Student Affairs Office, and the Faculty of Law Students’ Association of University of Macau Students’ Union. This award programme will be open for applications on the same day. All university students in Macao majoring in law or other disciplines related to law are eligible to apply.

UM holds 15th Portuguese Speech Contest

The Department of Portuguese under the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) today (6 November) held the 15th Portuguese Speech Contest in the theatre of the Student Activity Centre. The event aimed to promote Portuguese language studies, increase students’ interest in learning Portuguese, and reward the best-performing students.



UM’s research on active power filter that reduces cost and operating losses ranks among the top in the world

The University of Macau’s (UM) studies on active power filter (APF) have obtained fruitful results. The university now ranks among the top in the world in terms of the number of APF-related papers published during the period between 2012 and 2017 in the three most authoritative journals in the field of power electronics, namely IEEE Transaction on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transaction on Power Electronics, and IET Power Electronics (click here for relevant statistics from Scopus).
