The opening ceremony of the 2017 Traditional Medicine International Cooperation Forum (Macao China) hosted by the Macao S.A.R government and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China and co-ordinated by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation between Guangdong and Macau (hereafter abbreviated as the Industrial Park),will be held at The Parisian Macao on Wednesday (27 Sep). The event will include the unveiling ceremony of the Public Service Platform of the Industrial Park, the appointment ceremony for experts and advisors, and the brand-awarding and contract signing ceremony for key projects in the Industrial Park.


Macao presents Fireworks to celebrate the National Day

In celebration of the 68th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will present a fireworks display above the sea before the Macau Tower on 1st October.

The 31st Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, kicks off with Umberto Giordano’s opera in four acts Andrea Chénier. The opening ceremony will be held on 29 September (Friday), at 7:40pm, at the lobby of the Macao Cultural Centre. Spectators with tickets for the performance are welcome to participate in the opening ceremony.


Exhibition “Debris – Works by Alexandre Farto aka Vhils” ends earlier due to the typhoon’s impact

Due to the impact of typhoon “Hato”, the facilities and exhibitions at the Navy Yard No. 1 - Contemporary Art Center, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, have been affected and are temporarily closed to the public since the second day after the typhoon. Therefore the exhibition “Debris - Works by Alexandre Farto aka Vhils” closed earlier than predicted. The exhibition also featured works created in public spaces, among which a mural in the Macao Portuguese School which collapsed due to the typhoon, another mural inside the same school, a mural on an external wall located at No. 1 Rua Direita Carlos Eugénio in Taipa and a mural in an external wall located at Rua dos Clérigos in Old Taipa Village, which can still be appreciated by the public; in particular, the mural at Rua dos Clérigos can be seen until 15 October.


Consumer Council released its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ Surveyed spots included 12 supermarkets in Santo António Parish

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ in September on 25 September for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Horte e Costa, Avenida do Ouvidor Arriaga and Rua da Emenda areas in Santo António Parish.

Results of travel agencies survey 2016

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 256 travel agencies were operating in 2016, an increase of 6 over 2015. Despite the increase in number of establishments, total number of persons engaged decreased by 239 to 4,246. Receipts and expenditure of the travel agencies amounted to MOP 6.53 billion and MOP 6.30 billion respectively, up slightly by 0.5% and 0.9% year-on-year. Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy dropped by 1.0% year-on-year to MOP 944 million, and Gross Fixed Capital Formation fell by 11.4% to MOP 142 million.


October is a Contribution Month and FSS Reminds Members of the Public to Pay Contributions on Time

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) reminds members of the public that October is a contribution month. Employers are required to pay in this month the contributions of the obligatory system for their local long-term employees for the third quarter of this year. If employers have hired a non-resident worker, they are also required to pay the employment fee. On the other hand, beneficiaries of the arbitrary system are also required to pay contributions in October. Starting this year, the contribution amount is 90 patacas per month, where the contribution amount for the obligatory system is 30 patacas for employee and 60 patacas for employer, and the contribution amount for the arbitrary system is 90 patacas.
