UM scholar becomes the first Chinese to win Tracy Lynn Faber Award

Greta Mok Seng Peng,an associate professor from the University of Macau (UM) Faculty Science and Technology, who is also a joint associate professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences, recently received the Tracy Lynn Faber Memorial Award at the 65th Annual Meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). She also received the International Best Abstract Awardfor the second consecutive year for her work titled ‘Comparison of Different Tc-99m-MAA Imaging Protocols for Y-90 SIRT Treatment Planning’.


Jointly Forging an International TCM Quality Control Base Plaque Unveiled for the Liaison Office of the Guangdong Food and Drug Administration in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao

Organized by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation between Guangdong and Macao (hereafter “GMTCM Park”), the “Plaque Unveiling Ceremony of the Liaison Office of the Guangdong Food and Drug Administration in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation between Guangdong and Macao and the Research Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology and Policies” was held today (25 July) at the multi-functional Conference Hall, 2nd Fl. of the R&D Headquarters Building of the GMTCM Park. Approximately 200 participants attended the event, including representatives from government, review experts and enterprise representatives from Guangdong and Macao. The organizer hopes that, by establishing the Liaison Office, a communication platform will be built for medicine regulatory authorities, industry experts and enterprises in the GMTCM Park. Moreover, it will also provide technical guidance and policy advice for enterprises during the process of registration and application, assessment and certification.


Government making continued effort to optimise loan schemes

The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Leong Vai Tac, today said the Government was making a continued effort to optimise its existing subsidy and loan schemes that are available to local businesses.


The “Macao Franchise Expo 2018”—Platform of Unlimited Business Opportunities for Enterprises

“Brand Expansion Continues, Business Opportunities to be Seized” – The “Macao Franchise Expo 2018” (2018MFE) will be held at the Venetian Macao from 27 to 29 July, with more than 150 brand enterprises from home and abroad participating. This year’s MFE has set up a “Smart Retail Zone” to enable participants to learn about the latest technologies and services the retail industry has to offer. Meanwhile, the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Business Zone” and “Youth Entrepreneurship Exhibition Area” are freshly introduced to the MFE this year. In addition, together with the business matching sessions, “Start-up Launchpad” Day, “Gourmet Avenue” and other ancillary activities and services offered by the organiser, exhibitors and trade visitors will be provided with a negotiation and exchange platform which enable them to seize opportunities for development. All of these features are embodying the function the MFE serving as an important trade platform.


Grand Opening of the Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair 2018 on 27 July Turning Over a New Leaf on its 10th Anniversary

Jointly organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, the Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair 2018 (2018GMBPF) will be held at the Venetian Macao from 27 to 29 July. The 2018GMBPF continues to encompass trade, cultural exchanges, shopping, leisure and entertainment. To celebrate the GMBPF’s 10th anniversary, in addition to enriching the Belt and Road exhibition area by adding Malaysia Products Exhibition & Sales Area, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Exhibition Area which features the theme “Guangdong-Macao 10th Anniversary Pier” will see its debut at this edition of MFE. Moreover, the “Guangdong-Macao Young Entrepreneur Exhibition Area” is also launched for the first time to support participating enterprises, especially those established by young entrepreneurs, in generating more business opportunities for trading and branding, joining the national development Belt and Road Initiative. While strengthening Guangdong-Macao trade co-operation and seizing business opportunities brought by the New Era, this event also sets up exhibition area for Congjiang county of Guizhou province, in order to support the poverty easing of Congjiang.


Consumer Council released latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ in Taipa and Coloane area

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 25 July for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 11 supermarkets in Taipa and Coloane area.


2018 Macao International Parade calls for submission of proposals by local arts groups

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 2018 Macao International Parade, in celebration of the 19th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, will be held on 16 December (Sunday) from 3pm to 7pm. IC is now inviting all local associations, schools, institutes and organisations registered at the Macao Identification Service Bureau to join the event by submitting performance proposals.



36th Macao Young Musician Competition concluded successfully

The trials of the 36th Macao Young Musician Competition, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, have been concluded successfully. The Special Prizes Competition was held on 15 July at the Institute for Tourism Studies, promoting exchange between music students and offering a musical feast for the audience. Chan Wai Chon was awarded the Cultural Affairs Bureau Prize, and the winners of other categories in the Special Prizes Competition were also unveiled.
