Commemorative postmark cancellation service of “Celebration of the 68th Anniversary of the Establishment of the People’s Republic of China”

To celebrate the 68th Anniversary of the Establishment of the People’s Republic of China, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at our Philatelic Shop located at Macao Post Headquarters on 1st October 2017, from 9:00 to 17:30 providing the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “Celebration of the 68th Anniversary of the Establishment of the People’s Republic of China”.

The registration for 2017 Macao Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon, organized by the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and the General Association of Athletics of Macau and title sponsored by the Galaxy Entertainment Group, continued today (24 Sep).


Professional platform set up for co-operation between China and Portugal Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition – 2017 PLPEX as a standalone event

After two years of preparation, the “2017 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) - 2017 PLPEX, hosted by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), for the first time in history, will be held as a standalone event this year from 19 to 21 October 2017 (Thursday to Saturday) at the Venetian Macao, concurrently with the “22nd Macao International Trade and Investment Fair” (MIF).

IC announces inventory of intangible cultural heritage

In order to identify, recognize and safeguard Macao’s intangible cultural heritage, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), in accordance with the provisions of the Cultural Heritage Protection Law, drew up and officially announced the inventory of intangible cultural heritage today (22 September). Currently, a total of 15 elements are included in the inventory, namely Yueju Opera (Cantonese Opera), Herbal Tea Brewing, Woodwork – Religious Figure Carving, Cantonese Naamyam (Narrative Songs), Taoist Ritual Music, Festival of the Drunken Dragon, Belief and Customs of A-Ma, Belief and Customs of Na Tcha, Patuá Theatre, Macanese Gastronomy, Belief and Customs of Tou Tei, Belief and Customs of Chu Tai Sin, the Craft of Bamboo Scaffolding, the Procession of the Passion of Our Lord the God Jesus and the Procession of Our Lady of Fatima.


UM awards scholarships to outstanding students

The University of Macau (UM) recently awarded scholarships to 131 outstanding students at the UM Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2017. More than UM 400 students received scholarships in the past year.


CE to visit Hunan Province for Pan-Pearl River Delta meeting

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, will visit Changsha Prefecture in Hunan Province from 24 to 25 September, for the 2017 Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Cooperation Chief Executive Joint Conference.


Visitor arrivals for August 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that attributable to the catastrophic typhoon on 23 August, visitor arrivals edged down by 0.6% year-on-year to 2,866,400 in August 2017, down by 1.8% month-to-month. Same-day visitors (1,318,619) decreased by 6.2% year-on-year while overnight visitors (1,547,781) increased by 4.8%. The average length of stay of visitors went up by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.3 days, with that of overnight visitors (2.2 days) rising by 0.1 day and that of same-day visitors remaining unchanged at 0.2 day.


MIF helps enterprises explore opportunities while getting connected to the state express

The 22nd Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) will take place from 19 to 21 October 2017 (Thursday to Saturday) at the Venetian Macao. In order to enhance Macao’s role as a Business and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between Mainland China and Portuguese Speaking Countries, while further participating in the tasks of constructing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, MIF has invited Angola and Guangdong as its “Partner Country” and “Partner Province” this year. This year’s MIF will be showcasing various pavilions, holding different themed forums and conferences, featuring special highlights and promoting activities. MIF will also be jointly organising presentations and seminars on Cambodia’s investment and tourism with Cambodia – one of the countries along the “Belt and Road” for the first time, trying to grasp the business opportunities brought about by the “Belt and Road” Initiative. The “2017 Portuguese Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) – 2017 PLPEX” will be held concurrently with the 22nd MIF and become an independent exhibition this year.


MGTO joins “Beautiful China” promotional event in Liaoning to enhance tourism cooperation between Liaoning, Hong Kong and Macao

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) participates in the “Beautiful China – Liaoning Tour” Promotional Event and the Meeting for Tourism Exchange and Cooperation between Liaoning, Hong Kong and Macao. During the event, MGTO signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation with the Liaoning Tourism Bureau today (21 September) to foster mutual exchange and cooperation in the tourism field.
