Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hosted today the PATA Gold Awards Lunch and Award Presentation 2017 with three of this year’s Gold Awards going to Macao tourism operators. The awards presentation ceremony is one of the highlights of PATA Travel Mart 2017 that closes today in Macao.

Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – August 2017

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP159.5 billion (USD19.79 billion) at the end of August 2017. The reserves increased by 1.0% from the revised value of MOP157.9 billion (USD19.63 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-August 2017 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 88.8% of pataca M2 at end-July 2017.

Consumer Council conducted its second ‘Supermarket price survey’ in September on 14 September for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 14 supermarkets in Toi San, Ilha Verde and Fai Chi Kei areas in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish.


Assessment results for the Macao Exhibition at The 7th Shenzhen and Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture 2017 are announced

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) of the Macao SAR Government, in cooperation with the Architects Association of Macau and the Macao Urban Planning Institute, organises the Macao Exhibition at the 7th Shenzhen and Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture 2017 (hereinafter called “Bi-City Biennale”). The submission period of calling for proposals ended in early August. The submitted proposals for the Bi-City Biennale were then reviewed and selected by the Jury Commission composed of five experts and scholars from Shenzhen and Macao. The 1st Prize winner was Companhia de Arquitectura JWCC Limitada, who submitted the project entitled “City Magnified: Re-discovering of a Diminishing Urban Identity”, and will be responsible for planning the Macao Exhibition at the Bi-City Biennale. Other proposals were also awarded prizes, namely the 2nd prize was awarded to CURB — Centre for Architecture and Urbanism with the project “Macau, City of Villages - Diversity From the Bottom Up”, and the 3rd prize went to Cita Planeamento e Design Lda. for the project “Reconstruct‧Hang Vo Tong-The Macau Experience”. Meanwhile, an Honourable Mention was awarded to Wan Pio with their project “Safe Cordon”.


PATA Travel Mart 2017 opens in Macao

PATA Travel Mart opened today (September 14) in Macao, in a Ceremony presided by Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Alexis Tam, who is also the Chairman of the Host Committee for PATA Travel Mart 2017. Organized by Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and hosted by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), PATA Travel Mart is Asia Pacific’s premier travel trade show. Marking this year its 40th edition, the event attracted to Macao more than 1,130 delegates from 66 destinations.


31st MIMF kicks off with Opera in four acts Andrea Chénier Outreach Programme talks analyse the contents of the performances

The 31st Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), is held from 29 September to 30 October, and kicks off with Umberto Girodano’s four-acts opera Andrea Chénier. The event also features the concert “The Erhu Family” by Chen Yaoxing, Chen Jun and Chen Yimiao, an ensemble of three generations of erhu interpreters of the same family, fusing western musical instruments and elements and bringing a new charm to traditional huqin music. Tickets for the 31st MIMF are limited and the all members of the public interested are advised to purchase tickets as soon as possible.


CE: Full support for experts advising on Macao’s emergency response system

The Government is devoting its fullest efforts to cooperation with experts gathered by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and the National Commission for Disaster Reduction, regarding optimisation of Macao’s response measures for any public emergencies.
