Update of requests for assistance received from tourists

In the aftermath of typhoon "Hato", as of 12:00 noon today (August 26th), the Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) received a total of 19 requests for assistance from Macao residents due to return flights cancellation. Out of the 130 residents involved, 106 have already returned while the remaining 24 are scheduled to return today and on the 28th. The details are as follows:

Water Supply Situation of Macao

Three sets of pumps of the Ilha Verde Water Treatment Plant have resumed full operation after urgent repair works were carried out. The amount of water supplied is gradually increasing and the quality is guaranteed. However, since residents have a keen demand for water, capture, consumption and storage of large amount of water at the same time have resulted in excessive water demand in Macao which the current water supply system is not able to satisfy. The water distribution network cannot be filled with drinking water effectively, causing the fact that although water supply has resumed in some areas, insufficient water pressure and even suspension of water supply still occur in some parts of the areas. The Marine and Water Bureau appeals to the users to save water, reduce unnecessary water use and refrain from using water from fire services, which help to restore full water supply in Macao.
