2019 Policy Address continues focus on livelihood improvements

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, today outlined four main focuses in next year’s policy blueprint: improving people’s livelihoods, deepening urban development, promoting economic growth, and striving for sound social governance.


Consumer Council launched Code of Practice for Pet Products and Services

As the number of consumers who keep pets keeps increasing, the pet products and pet service industry has become a mainstream in the market. The Consumer Council is concerned about the consumer rights relationship and business practice in the industry, the new “Code of Practice for Retail industry of Pet Products and Services” is therefore established after reviewing on past disputes and consulting suggestions from the industry. All “Certified Shops” related to the pet products and service industry must abide by the Code to provide quality products and service to consumers.


MGTO presents Guidelines of Application Procedures and Technical Requirements for all MGTO-licensed establishments

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) launched the “Guidelines of Application Procedures and Technical Requirements for Licensing and Modification Works of Hotel Establishments” on 13 November. In addition to the pertinent guidelines for restaurants, bars, nightclubs, saunas and massage parlours, health clubs, karaoke lounges, travel agencies and tour guides as well as self-drive rent-a-car, the Office has provided in total nine sets of guidelines of application procedures and technical requirements for all the categories of MGTO-licensed establishments, to enhance convenience for applicants and familiarize travel trade operators with the stipulated requirements for application documents and design drawings.


Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge’s chief engineer to give talk at UM next Tuesday

The University of Macau (UM) on 20 November (next Tuesday) will hold a talk titled ‘Construction Technologies of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge’ as part of the University Lecture Series. Su Quanke, chief engineer of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority, will be the keynote speaker. All are welcome.

IPIM Organises Integrity Promotion Seminar to Uphold High Degree of Integrity and Probity

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) attaches great importance to the integrity, law-abiding awareness and professional ethics of all of its staff. To enhance integrity awareness, IPIM invited the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) to organise an integrity promotion seminar on 13 November, to better complement the orderly implementation of Government policies.


DSI shares experience in implementing multi-service counters with public departments

The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) launched multi-service counters in October this year as to comply with the Macao SAR Government’s policy of providing convenience to citizens in their daily life. Under the coordination of the Office of the Secretary for Administration and Justice, DSI has held a sharing session to introduce the implementation of relevant measures on 13th and 14th November 2018. In two consecutive days, a total of 35 public departments have participated the event.


MPI to Organise the “10th Higher Education International Conference on Innovation and Developments in Teaching and Learning Quality Assurance”

In order to learn about the innovation in teaching and learning, exchange insights on the development of international quality assurance and thereby promote the advancement of the quality of higher education in Macao, Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) and the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) are jointly organising “The 10th Higher Education International Conference on Innovation and Developments in Teaching and Learning Quality Assurance”, which will be held at MPI on 21-22 November 2018. The conference will feature keynote speeches by Professor Jianxin Zhang, President of APQN; Professor Alberto Amaral, President, Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES), Portugal; Mr Ian Kimber, Director of Universities, Quality Enhancement and Standards, The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), United Kingdom; Professor Sheelagh Matear, Executive Director, Academic Quality Agency for New Zealand Universities (AQA), New Zealand; and Mr Albert Chow, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ). They will focus on various issues related to teaching and learning quality, and innovation and developments in quality assurance.
