Termination of the registration period for the 2018 Year of the Dog commemorative coins on July 14

The registration period for the 2018 Year of the Dog commemorative coins launched by the Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) will end at 6:00pm on 14th July 2017 (Friday). Hence, Macao residents who are interested in subscribing for the said coins are requested to complete the online registration before the mentioned deadline.


MPI and European Commission co-organise the 7th Conference Interpreting Seminar

Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) and the Directorate-General for Interpretation of the European Commission (EC) are joining hands to organise the 7th Conference Interpreting Seminar from 10 to 21 July. This collaboration aims to nurture high-calibre talent in conference interpretation as well as train Portuguese university teachers working in Macao and the Chinese Mainland. More than ten professional translators and Portuguese teachers from Macao and Chinese universities, together with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, are attending this two-week advanced training in interpretation.


Mortgage loans statistics – May 2017

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) rose from the previous month while those of commercial real estate loans (CRELs) dropped in May 2017. With regard to the outstanding balance, RMLs increased whereas CRELs posted a slight monthly decline.


Renowned art historian Wu Hung hosts lecture “Moving Pictures: Ancient China's Gift to World Art”

In order to enrich people’s cultural life and to broaden their cultural horizons, the Cultural Affairs Bureau organizes “Lectures by Masters of Culture” programme. This year’s “Moving Pictures: Ancient China's Gift to World Art” will be held on Sunday, 27 August,at 3pm at the Macao Science Centre Convention Hall, hosted by renowned art historian Wu Hung. Reservation can be made online or by telephone starting from today.


Consumer Council conducted price survey on selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and Macao

For the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June, Consumer Council collected prices of fresh pork from wet markets and supermarkets on 11 July. The mentioned data collected during 5 July to 11 July are used for comparing the average selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai, and also for comparing the average prices of the two food items from Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and Macao in the previous month. The relevant data has been uploaded to the Council’s website for consumers’ reference.


The Mobile Library resumes operations

The Macao Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, has completed the inspection and maintenance works of the Mobile Library. The Mobile Library will resume operations on 12 July 2017. All parking locations and service hours will remain unchanged.


Creations by Students of Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center Fashion Incubator Program to be showcased in Hong Kong Fashion Week

To promote the development of Macao fashion industry, Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM) leads the students of “Fashion Incubator Program” to participate in the “Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer” this week. Students will be showcasing their latest created-in-Macao collections in fashion show on 12 July as well as exhibiting in their stands.


Government cautiously analysing possible refreshment of current gaming concessions

The Government would analyse various options – including the possibility of amendment to terms and conditions – regarding any refreshment of gaming rights for Macao’s current gaming concessions and sub-concessions.


The 5th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo adjourns with success Worldwide tourism businesses gather in Macao for cooperation and partnership opportunities

Supported by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and coordinated by Macau Travel Agency Association, the 5th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (“the Expo” or “MITE”) adjourned with success on 9th July. The Expo leveraged Macao’s role as a Sino-Portuguese platform and highlighted the city’s unique advantages, in line with the Macao Special Administrative Region Government’s participation in the Country’s Belt and Road development and the development planning of a city cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Expo was greater in scale compared with last year, with a wider exhibition floor, more booths and exhibitors coming from a greater number of countries and regions. The Expo admitted around 36,000 visitors this year and 31 cooperative agreements were signed during the event. The Expo has achieved expected results.


Exhibition “Ballade – Animamix Contemporary Art” opens this week at the Macao Art Museum

Organized by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the exhibition “Ballade – Animamix Contemporary Art” features a total of 46 pieces (sets), including anime, videos, installations, sculptures, oil paintings and large-scale live paintings created by 17 artists and art groups from Mainland China, Korea, Japan and Macao, presenting animamix as an emerging field of contemporary art which develops towards cultural diversity, text visualisation, surreal virtualisation and cross-national regionalisation. The opening ceremony of the exhibition will be held on Thursday, 13 July, at 6:30pm, on the 1st floor of the MAM.
