Consumer Council released latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ in Taipa and Coloane area

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 23 August for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 11 supermarkets in Taipa and Coloane area.

Consumer Report issue no. 300 now published

The Consumer Council published its latest issue no. 300 Consumer Report, featuring a survey report on how Chinese restaurants handle consumers paying with foreign currencies, a report on the cases received by the Council in the first half year of 2018 is also included.


2018 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Film Production Investment and Trade Fair Announcement of the results of the selection of the open call for submission of Macao film projects

The selection of Macao film projects for the 2018 Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Film Production Investment and Trade Fair (hereinafter designated “Fair”) was completed. Six applications were selected and the selected applicants are: Vong Tin Leong, Lim Mi Mi, Hoi Kuok Meng, Ye Ting Hang, Lou Ka Hou, and Io Lou Ian. The applicants of the selected film projects will be invited to attend the Fair on 4 and 5 September in Macao, where they will be able to meet with film investors and producers from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, promote the selected film products and seek opportunities for cooperation.


Release of Macao SAR Balance of Payments (Preliminary Estimate for 2017)

The Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) releases today the preliminary balance of payments (BOP) statistics of Macao SAR for the reference year 2017. The BOP, which comprises the current account, the capital account and the financial account, is a statistical statement that summarises external transactions of an economy with the rest of the world.


Visitor arrivals for July 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that as the summer holiday approached, visitor arrivals increased by 16.6% month-to-month to 3,034,297 in July 2018 and rose by 4.0% year-on-year. Overnight visitors (1,636,904) and same-day visitors (1,397,393) grew by 1.7% and 6.8% respectively year-on-year. The average length of stay of visitors went up by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.3 days, with that of overnight visitors rising by 0.1 day to 2.2 days and that of same-day visitors staying at 0.2 day.


Government garners opinions on rehousing plan to support urban renewal

The Government has started a 30-day public consultation on a proposed legal framework for provision of interim housing and replacement housing to support the city’s urban renewal scheme.


UM seminar on language documentation methods now open for registration

The Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre and the Research Centre for Luso-Asian Studies, under the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Arts and Humanities, will jointly hold a seminar titled ‘Methods of Language Documentation’ from 27 August to 3 September. The seminar will be conducted by Prof Hugo Cardoso from the University of Lisbon and will cover relevant basic theories and practices of language documentation.

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 22 August for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets at Lam Mau, Patane and San Kio areas in Santo António Parish.
