President of Instituto Português do Oriente (IPOR) Dr. Joaquim Ramos visits MPI to foster collaboration and exchange
Dr. Joaquim Ramos, President of Instituto Português do Oriente (IPOR) visited the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) on 30 October and was warmly welcomed by Professor Im Sio Kei, President of MPI. Dr. Ramos visited the Chinese-Portuguese-English Machine Translation Laboratory and learned about the teaching and research development of MPI and its contribution to the Language Services Industry in Macao. Later, a cordial and fruitful discussion was held in which both parties exchanged ideas on various aspects of their cooperation.

Wages of construction workers and prices of construction materials for the 3rd quarter of 2018
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average daily wage of construction workers in the third quarter of 2018 decreased by 0.5% quarter-to-quarter to MOP763, marking the fifth consecutive quarter of decline. The average daily wage of non-resident construction workers (MOP634) dropped by 1.7%, while that of local construction workers (MOP970) rose slightly by 0.9% quarter-to-quarter.

Transport and communications statistics for the 3rd quarter of 2018
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that as at the end of September 2018, total number of licensed motor vehicles dropped by 1.2% year-on-year to 238,792, of which light motorcycles (26,626) decreased by 11.2% whereas heavy motorcycles (96,935) rose by 1.0%. New registration of motor vehicles in the third quarter fell by 25.8% year-on-year to 3,392. Meanwhile, new registration of motor vehicles in the first three quarters of 2018 went down by 8.0% year-on-year to 10,887, with heavy motorcycles (5,635) dropping by 20.9%.
