Macao delegation in Tianjin, expanding overseas Chinese ties

Cooperation with Tianjin Municipality and its platform role would help Macao advance its own strategic position as a platform connecting China and Portuguese-speaking countries, said today the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Leong Vai Tac.


Electoral Affairs Commission to provide 19 venues for electioneering events

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election has decided toprovide a total of 19 venues for election teams to conduct electioneering events, compared to the 17 venues used in the 2013 election.

Consumer Council conducted its second ‘Supermarket price survey’ in June on 14 Junefor the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Iao Hon Market and the Border Gate area (Portas do Cerco ) in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish.


Service of the Preference Book Station will be terminated from July

In response to the open tender for cultural and creative shops at the Anim’Arte NAM VAN, the Macao Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau will terminate the service of the Preference Book Station from 1 July; the last opening day is 30 June. Residents are welcome to use the “Book Exchange Scorecard” before it expires on 1 July. For enquiries, please contact the Macao Public Library through tel. no. 2837 7117 or 2893 0077 during operation hours (10am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 7pm on Sundays).


Fostering a platform between Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries MPI signs cooperation agreement on professional Portuguese training with Jiangsu

To align with the country’s ‘Belt and Road’ initiative and the strategy to establish Macao’s role as a platform of cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) signed an agreement on training Portuguese-speaking professionals with Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government under the commission of the Macao SAR Government. Both parties will work together to teach Portuguese to professionals from Jiangsu engaging in trade, investment, education, agriculture, tourism and fishery sectors, providing them with more opportunities to cooperate with Portuguese-speaking countries.


Government launches public consultation on Greater Bay Area

The Government has launched a public consultation regarding Macao’s participation in the plan for a city cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area starting from today.

Consumer Council conducted price survey on selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and Macao

For the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June, Consumer Council collected prices of fresh pork from wet markets and supermarkets on 13 June. The mentioned data collected during 7 June to 13 June are used for comparing the average selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai, and also for comparing the average prices of the two food items from Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and Macao in the previous month. The relevant data has been uploaded to the Council’s website for consumers’ reference.


Inauguration of the 18th IEEE International Symposium on a World of Wireless, Mobile and Multimedia Networks

The 18thIEEE International Symposium on a World of Wireless, Mobile and Multimedia Networks (WoWMoM 2017) was inaugurated at Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) on 13 June. Over 130 scholars from 26 countries/regions and 71 universities and research institutes gathered in Macao to discuss the latest global trends in science and technology. The symposium covers a wide range of technical aspects of wireless communications, the Internet of Things, big data and smart cities. The organiser hopes to demonstrate the development and the strength of science and technology in Macao through this joint symposium in order to enhance the level of scientific research in wireless communications, network and mobile technology, multimedia networks and related areas such as the concept of smart cities.
