UM holds UAUC joint meeting Chui Sai On: UM has the important responsibility of nurturing talent

The University of Macau (UM) today (12 June) held the Joint Meeting of the University Assembly (UA) and University Council (UC) for the 2016/2017 academic year in its Ho Yin Conference Hall. Chui Sai On, chief executive of the Macao SAR, chancellor of UM, and chair of the UA, presided over the meeting. Chui said that an important task UM needs to fulfil in the future is to continue to produce talented and virtuous graduates to govern Macao, develop Macao’s economy, and carry on with the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ policy, adding that it is of great significance that UM fulfils this responsibility.


Over 200 trade and media travel to Macao on a familiarization trip for family travel

The delegation of “The 8thExperience Macao Tour”, formed by representatives of travel trade partners and key members of the media from the Mainland, travelled to Macao for a four-day mega familiarization trip. The itinerary includes World Heritage sites, facilities and tourism products targeted for family travel. In parallel with the tourism development goals of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government’s Five-Year Development Plan and the pace of building Macao into a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) actively fosters the diversification and continuous development of the local tourism industry, in addition to encouraging travel partners and members of the media to assist in promoting more ways to experience Macao.


Macao’s bridging role to extend China-Hungary cooperation

The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) pays great attention to cooperation with the nation of Hungary, noting that boosting tourism and cultural exchanges would bring further benefits to the two sides.


OM offers music aficionados the concert “Piano Encounter – Meet Louis Again”

The Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym) under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presented the concert “Piano Encounter – Meet Louis Again”, part of the Orchestra’s Maestros with Charisma series, on Saturday, 10 June, at 8pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. Two renowned musicians in the music circles, Hungarian conductor Gilbert Varga and Swiss-Chinese pianist Louis Schwizgebel, were invited to perform with the OM, offering the public a high-quality concert.


The Law《Control of Cross-Boundary Transport of Currency and Bearer Negotiable Instruments (CBNIs)》is became effective on 1st November 2017

The purpose of the new measure is to prevent or combat money laundering and terrorist financing, in order to ensure the security and stability of Macao's economic system. The Legislative Council has deliberately voted and passed the LawNo. 6/2017《Control of Cross-Boundary Transport of Currency and Bearer Negotiable Instruments (CBNIs)》(the Law) and will take into effect on 1 November 2017.

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao)announced today (June 12) the name list of the special allocation of funds from budget surplus 2017 for the provident fund individual accounts. This year, a total of 361,974 people are included on the list and 133,207 people are not. Members of the public can visit the website of the FSS at www.fss.gov.mo, call our 24-hour interactive voice response hotline 2823 0230, use self-service machines or visit all service points of the FSS for making enquiries.

Inauguration of “Macao Illustrated – Exhibition of City Plans and Architectural Drawings from the Macao Archives’ Collection”

To celebrate “China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day” and the “International Archives Day”, the Archives of Macao (AM) under the auspices of Cultural Affairs Bureau will organize the exhibition “Macao Illustrated - Exhibition of City Plans and Architectural Drawings from the Macao Archives’ Collection” from 10 June to 3 December 2017. The exhibition was inaugurated on Friday, 9 June, at 6pm, at the Archives of Macao. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Chan Peng Fai; the President of the Fellow Members Council of the Architects Association of Macau, Carlos Marreiros; and the architect of cultural heritage, Lui Chak Keong.


Mortgage loans statistics – April 2017

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) and commercial real estate loans (CRELs) both decreased from a month earlier in April 2017. With regard to the outstanding balance, RMLs posted a slight monthly increase whereas CRELs remained virtually unchanged.
