Consumer Council started 2nd phase on-site evaluation on “Certified Shops”

Consumer Council started its second phase of on-site evaluation on its “Adherents” and “Certified Shops” in June. The Council indicates that continuous inspection ensures stability in the services provided by “Adherents” and “Certified Shops”, shops’ continuous improvement also help to safeguard consumer rights.


UM student’s paper receives first prize at national pharmaceutical forum

Li Pengpeng, a master’s student from the University of Macau (UM) Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, recently received the only first prize at the First National Academic Forum for Postgraduates of Pharmacy, for her paper titled ‘Pharmaceutical Co-innovation Network: Global Patterns and the Role of China’. The forum received 340 paper submissions from 61 well-known universities, including China Pharmaceutical University, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Peking University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, and Zhejiang University. Li’s supervisor is ICMS Associate Professor Hu Yuanjia.


28th Macao Arts Festival concluded successfully

The 28thMacao Arts Festival (MAF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), has been concluded successfully, presenting 25 excellent shows and exhibitions as well as an outreach programme, in a total of over 100 activities, earning an enthusiastic response from local and overseas audiences. The overall percentage of ticket sales reached nearly 80%.


Government closely monitoring development of local housing market

The Government is continuously monitoring the local housing market and would evaluate the effectiveness of the recently-launched measure that amends homebuyer mortgage terms.


2017 “Tianjin Exchange Programme for Macao Undergraduate Students” inaugurates Thirty students to set off to Tianjin for exchange

The “Tianjin Exchange Programme for Macao Undergraduate Students” 2017 organised by Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R., as well as Macao Foundation inaugurated at the Institute for Tourism Studies, Macao (IFT) on 6 June. The Programme was co-organised by IFT and College of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University. The attending guests included Edmund Ho Hau Wah, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Hua Jian, Deputy Director of Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Zang Xianfu, Chairman of Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Chen Sixi, Deputy Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R., Wu Zhiliang, President of the Administrative Committee of Macao Foundation, members of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC, members of the National Committee of CPPCC and its Standing Committee, members of Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and its Standing Committee, representatives from IFT, Nankai University and other four Macao higher education institutions.

Consumer Council conducts price survey on selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai and Macao

For the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June, Consumer Council on 6 June collects prices of fresh pork from wet markets and supermarkets for consumers’ reference. The mentioned data collected during 31 May to 6 June are used for comparing the average selling price of the same products from Zhuhai. The relevant data has been uploaded to the Council’s website for consumers’ reference.


Macao 2018 Asian International Stamp Exhibition

Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will co-host the Macao 2018 Asian International Stamp Exhibition with the Macao Philatelic Association. The exhibition is under the patronage of Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (FIAP). The agreement signing ceremony will be held on 6th June, at 3:00 p.m. at the Headquarters of Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau.

‘Certified Shops’ travel agencies now required to follow Code of Practice

The Consumer Council has established a “Code of practice” for travel agencies entitled to the “Certified Shop” emblem. Those offer outbound package tour service to consumers should follow the Code, which requires the provision of a clear and easy-to-read contract, and all prices should be listed in MOP, etc.. The Code protects consumers in many areas and ensures that “Certified Shops” provide quality service.
