The 8th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum was Successfully Concluded Fruitful Results were Achieved in the Two-day Event

“The International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum” (The 8th IIICF) was successfully concluded today (2 June). In this two-day event, 14 thematic and concurrent forums were held. More than 220 sessions of business talks were organised, and 24 business contracts, framework agreements or memorandums of understanding were arranged. Among them seven projects under co-operation agreements involved collaboration between Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. This fully illustrated Macao’s function as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. The results of this event were fruitful, as there is a new driving force for countries and regions to advance economies jointly.

The Communication University of China and MPI engage in an exchange on the beauty of recitation

More than 30 teachers and students from several universities, including the Communication University of China (CUC), visited the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) on 22 May for a cultural exchange and academic sharing session. Professor Lu Jingchao, member of the national committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the Dean of the School of Presentation Art of CUC, chaired a session entitled ‘The Beauty of Recitation’. Students from CUC also put on a wonderful recitation and clapper talk - tongue twister performance, receiving rounds of applause from a hundred teachers and students who were enchanted by this superb demonstration of prose and sound.


The 8th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum Commences

“The 8th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum” (hereinafter “The 8th IIICF) commenced in Macao today (1 June). The theme of this forum was “Collaboratively Build a diversified, innovative, and sustainable infrastructure with Industry Connectivity”. More than 1,700 leaders from industrial sectors in 63 countries and regions were motivated to participate in the event.


Macao to strengthen the ‘Belt and Road’ role by helping international infrastructure development

The Government is looking forward to advancing Macao’s platform functions as the city assists in the effort to connect infrastructure and facilities in countries and places covered by the “Belt and Road” initiative.


29th Macao Arts Festival Call for Proposals of Local Performances

The 29thMacao Arts Festival (MAF), organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will be held next year in May. In order to promote the development of local arts, IC invites all registered local associations and individuals to submit proposals of local performances until 31 July. The selected works will be included in next year’s MAF programme.


“In Search of those Journeys – A Retrospective Exhibition of the Ferry Transport between Macao and the Islands” opens on Saturday

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the exhibition “In Search of those Journeys – A Retrospective Exhibition of the Ferry Transport between Macao and the Islands” will be inaugurated on Saturday, 3 June, at 3pm, at the Nostalgic House of the Taipa Houses. The exhibition runs until 5 October and is open to the general public.


Official Establishment of the “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Co-operation and Development Fund” Headquarters in Macao

To further actualize the series of measures taken by the Central Government to support the development of Macao, which also included the work related to the establishment of “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Co-operation and Development Fund” Headquarters in Macao, the “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Co-operation and Development Fund” Headquarters Unveiling and Signing Ceremony was held today (1 June), marking the moment that the Fund became officially based in Macao. At the initial stage, the office is located in the Macao Business Support Centre, a unit under the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute. In addition, during the unveiling ceremony, two strategic cooperation agreements regarding investment and cooperation between Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries were signed between the “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Co-operation and Development Fund” and enterprises from Mainland China and Macao.


Cultural Affairs Bureau hosts various activities in June on the occasion of China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day 2017

In response to the first “China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day” on 10 June, the Cultural Affairs Bureau is going to hold a series of exciting activities, including the highlighted programme “Genesis and Spirit – Showcase of Guangxi Intangible Cultural Heritage”, which features Guangxi’s rich and diverse intangible cultural heritages, free visits to World Heritage Sites and museums, cultural and arts performances at the World Heritage Sites, exhibitions and workshops, among others, thus raising the public awareness of the cultural heritage.


MPI’s Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art Programme Successfully Accredited by HEEACT

The Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art programme of the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) has successfully passed a programme validation exercise by the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT), the second bachelor’s degree programme of arts in Macao to be academically accredited after the Institute’s Music programme in 2015. HEEACT, a renowned academic accreditation institution in Asia, announced the review report of this exercise on its website, providing very positive comments on the programme and acknowledging its contribution to the Macao SAR Government’s strategy of developing the city’s cultural and creative industries. HEEACT’s report also commended the programme for its excellent contents, educational resources, support for teaching and learning, as well as quality assurance and enhancement.
