MGTO attends PATA Annual Summit 2017

Director of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, has just participated in the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Summit 2017 in Sri Lanka. Under the theme “Disruption. Innovation. Transformation: The Future of Tourism”, the four-day Summit features a series of panel discussions, the Ministerial Debate, the PATA Annual General Meeting and the PATA Youth Symposium among other meetings and activities in the programme this year.


The 8th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) will be held on 1 June in Macao

The 8th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (hereinafter “The 8th IIICF”) will be held on 1-2 June at the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. The Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Government of the Macao SAR, and the Central People's Government Liaison Office of the Macao SAR are the advising units of this event, which is organised jointly by the China International Contractors Association and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute. The theme of the event is “Collaboratively Build a Diversified, Innovative, and Sustainable Infrastructure with Industry Connectivity”. Political, business and academia leaders from China and overseas have been invited to the event, which will provide an exchange platform for diversified and innovative collaboration, and as such the combined development of infrastructure building and other related industries will be discussed.


“Exhibition of Members’ Artworks of Yu Un Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association of Macao” was inaugurated

Co-organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Yu Un Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association of Macao, the “Exhibition of Members’ Artworks of Yu Un Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association of Macao” was inaugurated on 19 May at the Chun Chou Tong Pavilion of Lou Lim Ioc Garden. The opening ceremony was attended by the Director of the Department of Education and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R, Xu Ting; the Acting President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Kent Ieong Chi Kin; the President of the Macau Artist Society, Lai Ieng; the General Manager of the Macao Daily News, Wan Nang Hon and the President of Yu Un Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association of Macao, Chui Sai Cheong.


IACM held explanatory meeting for employees of poultry trade

In view of the impact of implementation of “separation between humans and poultry” measure on the poultry trade, to express care and kindness, the government drew up the overall assistance measures. The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM), after having meeting with the poultry trade about withdrawal assistance plan recently, held an explanatory meeting specifically with employees of the trade on the afternoon of May 19 to explain the support from the government and measures such as assistance in change of career, especially the decision about assisting employers with redundancy compensation for employees. About 120 employees of the trade attended the explanatory meeting.

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ in May on 19 May for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets in São Lázaro and São Lourenço Parishes.


Business climate survey on restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for March 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated an improvement in the business of restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade in March 2017. Around 47% of the interviewed restaurants & similar establishments reported a year-on-year growth in receipts in March, up by 10 percentage points from February. The proportions of Chinese Restaurants (48%), Japanese & Korean Restaurants (56%) and Western Restaurants (35%) that reported a year-on-year rise in receipts went up by 30, 25 and 10 percentage points respectively from February. On the other hand, the proportion of interviewed restaurants & similar establishments reporting a year-on-year decline in receipts went down by 17 percentage points from February to 35%, with the corresponding proportions of Chinese Restaurants, Other Restaurants & Similar Establishments and Japanese & Korean Restaurants decreasing by 34, 24 and 19 percentage points respectively.


Results of visitor expenditure survey for the 1st quarter 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total spending (excluding gaming expenses) of visitors amounted to MOP13.46 billion in the first quarter of 2017, up by 16.6% year-on-year, yet down by 9.0% from the fourth quarter of 2016. Total spending of overnight visitors (MOP10.60 billion) and same-day visitors (MOP2.86 billion) went up by 19.6% and 6.7% respectively year-on-year.


Online Services of the FSS Affected on Saturday and Sunday due to System Maintenance

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) will conduct network system maintenance from midnight to 6:00 a.m. of May 20 (Saturday), and from 11:00 p.m. of May 20 to 6:00 a.m. of the following day. During this period, the FSS’ website and its external online services will be suspended or unstable. The FSS reminds members of the public to pay attention to this.


The Macao Orchestra offers music fans the concert “Piano Encounter – Meet Louis Again” in June

The Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents the concert “Piano Encounter – Meet Louis Again”, part of the Orchestra’s Maestros with Charisma series, on Saturday, 10 June, at 8pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. The acclaimed Hungarian conductor Gilbert Varga was specially invited again to lead the OM and the Swiss-Chinese pianist Louis Schwizgebel. Tickets are now available at the Macao Ticketing Network.
