MPI organises Music programme’s graduation concert to exhibit the blossoming of talents

MPI’s Bachelor of Arts in Music programme hosted a graduation concert featuring its class of 2017 students on the evening of 12 May. This concert showcases the talents and achievements of the programme’s graduating students and demonstrates the Institute’s outstanding quality of music teaching. Over 40 students and their teachers performed that evening, staging a superb concert for over 200 enthusiastic music lovers who responded with repeated rounds of applause.


CCAC completes investigation of including applicants’ spouses of economical housing as household members

Recently, the CCAC has received a total of 27 complaints from appointed buyers of economical housing and the office of legislator Lei Cheng I. According to the complaints, the Housing Bureau (IH) rejected the applications from appointed buyers of economical housing for not including their spouses as household members. Such doing has not only violated the related provisions under Law no. 10/2011, Economical Housing Law, but also contradicted the guidelines initially provided for economical housing applicants. Therefore, the CCAC has been requested for intervention in the case.


Nurturing World Champion Martial Arts Athletes MPI’s Bachelor of Physical Education Successfully Accredited by HEEACT

The Bachelor of Physical Education of the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI), has successfully passed a programme validation exercise by the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT), being the first bachelor degree programme in Macao to undergo an academic review for such sports professionals. HEEACT, a renowned academic accreditation institution in Asia, is a member of the Asia Pacific Quality Network and the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education. Announcing the review report on its website, HEEACT provides very positive comments on the programme and acknowledges the programme content, teaching quality, learning environment for students and the support mechanisms of teaching and learning at MPI.

A delegation from UToronto’s Faculty of Medicine visits UM

A delegation from the University of Toronto’s (UToronto) Faculty of Medicine, led by its representative Dr Marcus Law, visited the University of Macau (UM). The delegation was warmly received by Prof Chuxia Deng, dean of UM’s Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS); Prof Ge Wei, associate dean of the faculty; and Prof Chen Guokai, assistant dean of the faculty. Both parties exchanged ideas on how to nurture medical professionals to prepare for the ‘4+X’ programme to be jointly launched by UM and UToronto. Dr Law says that UM’s biomedical sciences programme places a great emphasis on learning outcomes, which happens to agree with the educational philosophy of UToronto.


Consumer Council released latest‘Supermarket price survey’ Surveyed spots included 14 supermarkets in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish

Consumer Council conducted its second ‘Supermarket price survey’ in May on 16 May for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Iao Hon Market and the Border Gate area (Portas do Cerco ) in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish.


Consumer Council conducted price survey on selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and Macao

For the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June, Consumer Council collected prices of fresh pork from wet markets and supermarkets on 16 May. The mentioned data collected during 10 May to 16 May are used for comparing the average selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai, and also for comparing the average prices of the two food items from Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and Macao in the previous month. The relevant data has been uploaded to the Council’s website for consumers’ reference.


MGTO launches this year’s internship program for government tourism personnel of Portuguese-speaking countries

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), in cooperation with the PermanentSecretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries (Macao) started the training program for this year tailored for civil servants from tourism offices of Portuguese-speaking countries.


Japanese choreographer shares aesthetics of performance on Sunday

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the 28thMacao Arts Festival (MAF) presents a variety of extraordinary outreach activities. Japanese choreographer Hiroaki Umeda will share his unique insights on performance, creation and body aesthetics. Most of the MAF outreach activities have free admission and all are welcome to register.


2017 Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Film Production Investment and Trade Fair Call for Submissions of Macao Film Projects

The 2017 Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Film Production Investment and Trade Fair (hereinafter referred to as “the Fair”), will be held in July, with the aim of providing an exchange platform for film producers and investors from the three regions, facilitating pairing services, investment opportunities and the development of film projects. The Fair is now calling for the submission of Macao film projects and all interested parties from the film industry are welcome to submit their works. The call for submissions is open from today until 8 June2017.
