Survey on vocational training 2016

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 51 institutions offering vocational training courses in 2016, an increase of 9 institutions year-on-year. A total of 1,718 courses were organised, up by 11.8% year-on-year.


Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – April 2017

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP154.1 billion (USD19.24 billion) at the end of April 2017. The reserves decreased by 0.6% from the revised value of MOP155.1 billion (USD19.38 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-April 2017 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 88.9% of pataca M2 at end-March 2017.

OM presented the concert “The Future of Classical Music” at the University of Macao

The Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym), under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presented the concert “The Future of Classical Music” on 13 May, at the University Hall of the University of Macao, in which music aficionados and students were directed by the Orchestra’s Assistant Conductor Francis Kan. Numerous students and music lovers attended the concert, thereby sharing a wonderful evening.

Nominating committees of the Legislative Assembly Elections must be formed in accordance with law

With regard to the 2017 Legislative Assembly Elections, nominating committees are being formed at this stage. Many individuals who intend to run for the election have started to collect voters’ signatures. According to the reports received by the CCAC, some groups or individuals recently hosted activities under different pretexts, where meals were offered to participants for free or at discounted prices. During these activities, announcements were made in relation to certain persons’ intentions to run for the upcoming election, or nominating committee forms were given to the participants to sign. Therefore, the CCAC is highly concerned about the matter.
