Consumer Council conducts price survey on selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai and Macao

For the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June, Consumer Council on 4 May collects prices of fresh pork from wet markets and supermarkets for consumers’ reference. The mentioned data collected during 26 April to 2 May are used for comparing the average selling price of the same products from Zhuhai. The relevant data has been uploaded to the Council’s website for consumers’ reference.


Holders of the Macao Special Administrative Region Passport are granted visa-on-arrival entry to the Republic of Malawi

The Identification Services Bureau has been confirmed by the Embassy of the Republic of Malawi in Beijing that holders of the Macao SAR Passport visiting the Republic of Malawi can obtain visa upon their arrival for a maximum stay of 30 days.


Residential price index for the 1st quarter 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential price index in the first quarter of 2017 grew by 4.7% quarter-to-quarter to 244.0, with the indices for the Macao Peninsula (245.0) and Taipa & Coloane (239.5) rising by 4.8% and 4.1% respectively. The index for existing residential units (248.7) went up by 5.1%, with the indices for the Macao Peninsula (236.0) and Taipa & Coloane (305.9) increasing by 4.6% and 6.5% respectively.


Monetary and financial statistics – March 2017

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, money supply sustained its growth momentum in March with a stable share of patacas. On the other hand, both resident deposits and loans grew from a month earlier.


2017 Macao International Museum Day Carnival opens in May revealing the fusion between museums and local festivities

In response to this year’s International Museum Day, 17 Macao museums co-organize a large-scale annual museum event, the “2017 Macao International Museum Day Carnival” themed “The Mobile Museum – Red Market X Drunken Dragon Festival”. The opening ceremony was held on 3 May, at 10:30am, at the Red Market (Mercado Municipal Almirante Lacerda), featuring a series of excellent activities and attracting residents into active participation.

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the 28th Macao Arts Festival (MAF) presents a variety of extraordinary performances this week, including ANECKXANDER: a tragic autobiography of the body, Hu(r)mano, Rusty Nails & Other Heroes, the Cantonese opera The Tale of Lady General and the environmental artwork Remote Macao, exploring the various possibilities of space by means of different art manifestations.


IACM and Food and Economic Safety Authority of Portugal hold first working meeting on food safety cooperation in Macao

To implement cooperation on food safety between Macao and Portugal, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) and Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) of Portugal held the first working meeting in Macao on May 2. Both sides had discussions about notification of information about food safety, technique for food testing and personnel training, etc., jointly promoting the food safety efforts in both places.


Visitor arrivals hit 370,000 in Macao during 1st May Labor Day holidays up by 6.7% year-on-year

According to records provided by the Public Security Police Force, Macao registered over 375,000 visitor arrivals (excluding non-resident employees and students) during the 1stMay Labor Day holidays (29th April – 1st May), a rise of 6.7% over the corresponding three-day holidays of last year. Over 338,000 visitors came from the Greater China markets, up by 5.5% in total. Visitor arrivals from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan increased by 5%, 7.5% and 5.1% respectively, whereas other markets registered a double-digit growth of 18.9%.


UM students win championship in Bank of China Trophy One Million Dollar Macao Regional Entrepreneurship Competition

A team of master’s students from the University of Macau (UM) named ‘Golden Wound Dressing Co Ltd’ recently won the championship and the Best Exhibition Award in the Bank of China Trophy One Million Dollar Macao Regional Entrepreneurship Competition. The team will compete with the other finalists from Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong in the national final to be held in August for the big prize of one million as the start-up fund.


New Macao Central Library website launched

In order to allow the public to have a better understanding of the New Central Library Project and its progress, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) launched the New Macao Central Library website. This new website provides an introduction of the Library, information about the revitalization of the old buildings, promotional activities and news publication, among others. The content of the website will be updated according to the project progress, in order to allow residents to obtain the latest information about the New Central Library.
