UM students win championship in Bank of China Trophy One Million Dollar Macao Regional Entrepreneurship Competition
A team of master’s students from the University of Macau (UM) named ‘Golden Wound Dressing Co Ltd’ recently won the championship and the Best Exhibition Award in the Bank of China Trophy One Million Dollar Macao Regional Entrepreneurship Competition. The team will compete with the other finalists from Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong in the national final to be held in August for the big prize of one million as the start-up fund.

New Macao Central Library website launched
In order to allow the public to have a better understanding of the New Central Library Project and its progress, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) launched the New Macao Central Library website. This new website provides an introduction of the Library, information about the revitalization of the old buildings, promotional activities and news publication, among others. The content of the website will be updated according to the project progress, in order to allow residents to obtain the latest information about the New Central Library. Wages of construction workers and prices of construction materials for the 1st quarter 2017
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average daily wage of construction workers increased by 1.8% quarter-to-quarter to MOP830 in the first quarter of 2017. The average daily wage of non-resident construction workers (MOP750) rose by 4.0% quarter-to-quarter, and that of local construction workers (MOP1,045) edged up by 0.4%.

The 28thMacao Arts Festival (MAF), organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was inaugurated on 28 April, at 7:40pm in the lobby of the Macao Cultural Centre. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao S.A.R. Government, Alexis, Tam Chon Weng; the Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R., Xue Xiaofeng; the Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao S.A.R., Wang Dong; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, Leung Hio Ming; the Acting Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Cecilia, Tse Heng Sai; the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Teledifusão de Macau, S.A. (TDM), Manuel Gonçalves Pires Júnior; the Senior Vice President of Strategy & Corporate responsibility of MGM, Sarah Rogers; the Deputy General Manager of Bank of China Limited (Macau Branch), Ip Sio Kai; and the Vice President of Air Macau Company Limited, Liao Hanxi. Consumer Council and other departments met up to prepare for Labour Day holiday
As Labour Day holiday is approaching, consumption by citizens are expected to increase, so are the number of inbound tourists.
