Commission plans 36 polling stations for Legislative Assembly Election

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election has a preliminary plan to install polling stations at 35 venues, one of the venues containing two polling stations, thus making available a total of 36 polling stations for 2017’s direct election process for the Legislative Assembly.

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ inApril on 24 April for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 13 supermarkets in Sé Parish.


Government investigating cases of visitors with Legionnaires' disease

The Government is investigating the cases of three visitors who have tested positive in Hong Kong for Legionnaires’ disease, were on respective visits to Macao during the standard incubation period for their condition.


Identification Services Bureau kiosks add electronic payment methods

In order to provide further convenience for citizens to lodge applications with self-service kiosks and achieve the whole self-service application process to be done electronically, the Identification Services Bureau has added electronic payment methods for all self-service kiosks which require citizens to pay application fees on a trial basis since the end of March in 2017. The operation on trial has been running smoothly. Starting from today, the electronic payment function of the above-mentioned kiosks is put into official use.


Visitor arrivals for March 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals increased by 5.7% year-on-year to 2,501,219 in March 2017, up slightly by 0.2% month-to-month. Overnight visitors rose by 13.9% year-on-year to 1,336,384 while same-day visitors decreased by 2.4% to 1,164,835. The average length of stay of visitors remained stable as in March 2016, at 1.2 days; the average stay of overnight visitors dropped by 0.1 day to 2.1 days whereas that of same-day visitors stayed at 0.2 day.


OM presented the special concert “Musical Yoga” “British Scenery” Concert to be held on Saturday at St. Dominic’s Church

The Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presented the concert “Weekend Music Party – Musical Yoga”, part of the special production series, on 22 April, at Dom Pedro V Theatre, presenting a concert dedicated to yoga music for the first time and attracting numerous fans. OM will also present the concert “British Scenery”, part of the Orchestra’s Maestros with Charisma series, on Saturday, 29 April, inviting the public to enjoy an evening at the sound of British music.


“Macao Library Week 2017” was inaugurated on Saturday

The “Macao Library Week 2017”, organized by the Macao Public Library under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) and the Macao Library and Information Management Association (MLIMA), and co-organized by the Wu Yee Sun Library under the University of Macau, was inaugurated on 22 April, at 10:30am, at the Old Court Building. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leung Hio Ming; the Head of the Department of Public Library Management, Tang Mei Lin; the Head of the Division of Continuing Education of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Kong Ngai; the Head of the Centre of Permanent Education of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Cheong Kuai San; and the Director of the Macao Library and Information Management Association, Wong Kwok Keung.


CE: Government striving to source more land plots for public housing

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, today said at a plenary session of the Legislative Assembly that the Government is dedicated to identifying more plots of land for public housing projects.


Macao positioned as training hub for tourism, serving the Greater Bay Area

The Government plans to develop Macao as a training hub and testing ground for tourism education, as a strategy to integrate the city further in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.


“Tap Siac Craft Market” reveals local and foreign culture and creativity 2nd Award Ceremony and Concert of the Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums held concurrently

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and co-organised by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, the “Tap Siac Craft Market” is held from 21 to 23 April and from 28 to 30 April for two consecutive weekends (Friday to Sunday), at Tap Siac Square, featuring a variety of cultural and creative products from the local community and seven neighbouring areas. In addition, nearly 40 workshops and several music performances and the 2nd Award Ceremony and Concert of the Subsidy Programme for the Production of Original Song Albums will be held. All are welcome to participate and enjoy the fun of creative works and the lively atmosphere of the event.
