UM’s honorary doctor Tse Chi Wai shares experience in Chinese medicine

The University of Macau (UM) today (12 April) held a Doctor honoris causaLecture titled ‘A Stroke of Serendipity: How I Came to Join the Cause for the Advancement of Chinese Medicine’. Tse Chi Wai, UM’s honorary doctor and a renowned educator, was the keynote speaker. The lecture attracted a full-house audience.

Consumer Council conducted its second ‘Supermarket price survey’ in April on 12 April for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Iao Hon Market and the Border Gate area (Portas do Cerco ) in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish.


“Experience Macao – Malaysia” grandly opens Attracts high-value visitors from middle-haul markets to Macao and promotes multi-destination tourism

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) unveils a mega tourism promotional event known as “Experience Macao – Malaysia” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this week. The promotion showcases Macao’s fascinating diversities in tourism, culture, sports and gastronomy by bringing together all these elements at the heart of the city for Malaysian citizens, travel trade and media to experience. MGTO also rides on the mission to organize a “multi-destination” tourism promotion in partnership with the tourism authorities of Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian. As part of MGTO’s endeavors to promote Macao’s unique offers as a “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”, the mission aims to tap into a variety of visitor markets and attract high-value visitations from middle-haul markets to Macao or other destinations as well in one trip, by highlighting the destination’s strengths and geographic advantages in the region.


Sharing Session by Professors of the University of Coimbra on Furthering Study in Portugal

The Student Affairs Office at Macao Polytechnic Institute (“MPI” or “the Institute”) held an “Information Session on Postgraduate Study in Portugal and Academic Sharing“ , in which Professor Pedro Godinho and Professor Arnaldo Coelho from the University of Coimbra were invited to present the information of furthering study and career planning to MPI students. The “Information Session on Postgraduate Study in Portugal and Academic Sharing”, part of MPI’s “Postgraduate Skills Training Series”, was separated into 2 sections. The first section presented information about the University of Coimbra, and the second section released the annual report of the job market. It was a lively and informative sharing for the students.


Mobile Phones Sellers Association cancelled 7-day return policy Consumer Council concerns effects on consumers

The Consumer Council expresses its regret at the decision made by Macau Mobile Phones Sellers Association earlier to stop fulfilling its “7-day return” policy to consumers , the Council has terminated the“Code of Practice” for the Retail Industry of Telecommunication Equipment and Supplies, and will pay attention to the effects brought to consumers.


Macao has series of achievements under its ‘Platform’ role, says CE

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, said the Government’s effort regarding the transformation of Macao as a platform for commerce and trade further connecting China and Portuguese-speaking countries, had led to a series of achievements.


The Monetary Authority of Macao is highly concerned about the report relating to the alleged bid rigging by insurance companies in the Macao SAR

In relation to the report from the neighbouring region in connection with the alleged bid rigging by insurance companies in the Macao SAR, the Monetary Authority of Macao (“AMCM”) would like to point out that, though no complaints nor queries were received from the tendering entities, it has already followed up the allegations of this report, and met the insurance sector to emphasize that they must comply with the existing laws and regulations.


Created-in-Macao Fashion Labels on Exhibition at Shenzhen Stop of the Dynamic Macao Business and Trade Fair

Shenzhen Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM) will lead a delegation of seven created-in-Macao fashion and accessory labels to promote Macao fashion at the Shenzhen stop of the “Dynamic Macao Business and Trade Fair”, which will be held in the middle of April.


Consumer Council conducted price survey on selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and Macao

For the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June, Consumer Council collected prices of fresh pork from wet markets and supermarkets on 11 April. The mentioned data collected during 5 April to 11 April are used for comparing the average selling prices of fresh pork and vegetables from Zhuhai, and also for comparing the average prices of the two food items from Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and Macao in the previous month. The relevant data has been uploaded to the Council’s website for consumers’ reference.
