The “Local Ginger – Cenozoic Graffiti Art Exhibition” and “Impression of Macau – Art Exhibition of Andre Lui” at the Lakeside Gallery

Co-organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and the Macao Artist Society, the opening ceremony of the “Local Ginger – Cenozoic Graffiti Art Exhibition” and “Impression of Macau – Art Exhibition of Andre Lui” was held on 21 January 2017, at the Lakeside Gallery in the Anim’Arte NAM VAN.


UM announces 2017 macroeconomic forecast for Macao

The University of Macau (UM) Department of Economics released its Macroeconomic Forecast for Macao 2017 today. Macao’s economy is beginning to recover. The growth of Macao’s real GDP turned positive, with a 4.0% year-on-year increase and MOP 86.7 billion recorded in the third quarter of 2016. It declined by 12.4% and 7.0% on a year-on-year basis in the first and second quarters of 2016 respectively (Figure 1 and 2). Based on the forecast, Macao’s economy will continue its steady growth in 2017.


Consumer Council released its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ in Sé Parish

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ inJanuary on 20 January for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 12 supermarkets in Sé Parish.


Consumer Council, Macao Customs, and Economic Services visited Tap Seac Chinese New Year Market

Consumer Council, Macao Customs, and Economic Services patrolled together at Tap Seac Chinese New Year Market earlier to distribute promotional leaflets and reminded vendors about the laws and regulations regarding intellectual property rights, price labeling, and the importance of selling legal and safe products to consumers. Nonscheduled joint action will be carried out to safeguard consumer rights.


Consumer price index (CPI) for December 2016

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI (108.86) for December 2016 increased by 1.44% year-on-year, down by 0.09 percentage points from the 1.53% growth in November. The inflation rate for 2016 stood at 2.37%, down further from 4.56% in 2015.


Renowned violinist Ning Feng joins hands once again with the Macao Orchestra Concert and violin master class take place in the middle of next month

The Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym) of the Cultural Affairs Bureau presents the concert “Ning Feng Plays Elgar” on Sunday, 19 February, at 8pm, at St. Dominic’s Church. Under the baton of the young Taiwanese conductor Tung-Chieh Chuang, the internationally renowned Chinese violinist Ning Feng, who is highly respected and supported by the music fans in Macao, will present his solo performance,. Violin master class conducted by the violinist Ning Feng will be hosted. All interested parties are welcome to register.


A series of activities on occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Rooster

New year, new beginnings. In order to welcome the new year and celebrate this occasion with the public, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) organizes “Let's Celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Rooster” which includes a series of activities such as workshops, exhibitions, lectures, concerts and performances.
