CCAC says law enforcement criteria apply to both electoral campaign period and voting day

When responding to media inquiries about the New Macao Association’s complaint on the “breakfast incident”, the Commissioner Against Corruption yesterday said that the notion that “even just one dollar can be considered an advantage” should not be adopted as a criterion for law enforcement, otherwise the act of giving away tissue packets printed with electioneering information during the electoral campaign period may also constitute electoral bribery.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the GGCT provided support for the return of Macao resident stranded in the Commonwealth of Dominica

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassies of the People's Republic of China in Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, and Barbados supported the evacuation and safe relocation of more than 400 Chinese citizens who were affected in the aftermath of the hurricane. Among those affected was a Macao resident who was safely takento Antigua and Barbuda. The GGCT was contacted by the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Macao on the 26thof September,and provided support by facilitating the return of the Macao resident. The resident left on the 28th, having returned to Macao this morning (30thof September).


UM students win gold award at China College Students’ ‘Internet+’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

A product named ‘Golden Wound Dressing’ developed by an entrepreneurial team in Chinese medical sciences from the University of Macau (UM) won a gold award at the Third China College Students’ ‘Internet+’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Zhang Zhe, a representative of the UM team, along with the representatives of other winning teams, was received by China’s Vice Premier Liu Yandong. During the meeting, Zhang told Liu about the team’s business plan to develop Chinese medicine.


Twenty-third issue of C2 Magazine discusses how to make dreams come true in the cultural and creative industries

Published by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and produced by the Like Entertainment & Production Co. Ltd., the twenty-third issue of C2 Magazine will be launched on Wednesday, 4 October. Master of Physical Education programme opens at MPI to nurture high-calibre professionals in sports research for Macao

The opening ceremony of the second cycle of the Master of Physical Education programme, which is jointly organised by the Shanghai University of Sport and Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI), was held at MPI in the afternoon of 22 September. The ceremony was officiated by Professor Im Sio Kei, Vice President of MPI and Professor Zhao Xiaohan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physical Education and Sport Training, Shanghai University of Sport (SUS). The officiating guests encouraged new students to work hard in their studies, thereby advancing the research in sport sciences and becoming high-calibre professionals who can contribute to the society with their application-based knowledge in this field.

List of entrants for the second review of IC’s “2017 Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making” announced

The initial review of the “2017 Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), has been recently completed. A total of 26 applications were received, and the adjudicating panel selected 15 entrants for the second review. Each candidate eligible for the second review will be granted a subsidy up to a maximum amount of MOP160,000 to cover expenses of sample making and production of promotional materials.


All Social Service Centres to Stop Providing Provident Fund Services From October

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) announced that the temporary service counters at all Social Service Centres for the provision of FSS’ provident fund individual account services will be closed from October. Members of the public can visit the service points designated by the FSS or visit the Public Service Centres, or use the self-service machines for the related services.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for August 2017

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that under the impact of the catastrophic typhoon on 23 August, visitors on package tours decreased by 6.1% year-on-year to 677,000 in August 2017, with a month-to-month decline of 14.6%. Package tour visitors from Mainland China (551,000) and Taiwan (34,000) dropped by 6.0% and 20.3% respectively year-on-year, while those from the Republic of Korea (34,000) rose by 5.2%. In the first eight months of 2017, visitors on package tours totalled 5,237,000, up by 8.8% year-on-year.
