[Strengthening investment promotion] 2024 Guangdong and Macao Branded Products Fair features three new exhibition areas and three business matching sessions for better matching services

The “Celebration of 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the 25th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland‧2024 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair” will be held from 25 to 28 July (Thursday to Sunday) at Cotai Expo Hall D, The Venetian Macao. This year, the event is dedicated to enriching the business-to-business (B2B) elements by adding three exhibition areas on hotel facilities and services, smart devices and China chic. In addition, there will be three business matching sessions and various activities, including “multi-venue events”, forums, product promotion sessions, protocol signing ceremonies and guided tours, in an effort to extend the event’s impact beyond the exhibition hall and further into the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin. It aims to leverage the synergy of “industry + MICE” and “MICE + tourism” development and attract investment through exhibitions to help enterprises and brands explore innovative development and business opportunities.



Three polling stations to be used for 11 August elections

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election today announced that three polling stations will be used in the 11 August voting to choose members of the Chief Executive Election Committee.

The “Celebration of 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the 25th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland ‧2024 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair”, jointly organised by the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, will be held from 25 to 28 July (Thursday to Sunday) at Cotai Expo Hall D, The Venetian Macao. To celebrate the two anniversaries, the 2024GMBPF has prepared over 75,000 exquisite gifts for visitors to share the joy.


[Empowering the “1+4” Industries] 153 Investment Projects Assisted by Trade Promotion Department in the First Half of the Year, Exceeding Last Year’s Annual Investment Amount

In the first half of 2024, the Investor’s “One-stop Service” provided by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (renamed as Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute on 1 July) received 199 new investment proposals, of which 153 were assisted. According to the investors, the assisted proposals created 817 jobs and involved investments amounting to MOP 1.32 billion, reflecting investors’ confidence in Macao’s business environment and development prospects. The amount of investment in the first half of 2024 has exceeded the annual figure of 2023. Among the assisted investment proposals, 66 proposals were related to the “1+4” industries, accounting for more than 40%, providing new impetus for the development of key emerging industries in Macao.


UM invites CAS academician to give talk on new era of intelligent transformation

As part of the University Lecture Series, the University of Macau (UM) will hold a talk titled ‘Thoughts on the New Era of Intelligent Transformation: A Perspective from a Software Technology and Education Practitioner’ on 24 July (Wednesday). Lyu Jian, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), former president of Nanjing University and director of the State Key Laboratory for Novel Software Technology at Nanjing University, will be the speaker. All are welcome to attend.

UM summer camp attracts outstanding students from around the world

The 5th Summer Camp for Outstanding Students, jointly organised by the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and the Institute of Collaborative Innovation (ICI) at the University of Macau (UM), attracted applications from over 800 outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate students from around the world. Nearly 100 students from renowned universities worldwide were selected to participate in the camp.
