[Three Concurrent Exhibitions] Grand Opening! 13 Co-operation Agreements Signed by Industry Leaders, Including Fortune Global 500 Enterprises

The 2nd China-Portuguese-Speaking Countries Economic and Trade Expo (Macao) (2nd C-PLPEX), the 30th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (30th MIF), and the Macao Franchise Expo 2025 (2025MFE) officially kicked off today (22 October). High-profile Chinese and overseas enterprises, including Fortune Global 500 businesses like Huawei and AstraZeneca, as well as top technology and investment firms like China Unicom, Alibaba Cloud, and WI Harper Group, signed 13 partnership agreements on-site. These partnerships are set to pave the way for Macao to introduce key sectors such as big health, high & new tech, and investment funds, while building a pipeline of quality enterprises for Macao’s science and technology R&D industrial park, fostering industry clusters for upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors along the industry chain, and ultimately contributing to a more robust industrial ecosystem.



Intensifying Investment Promotion and Talent Recruitment in East China to Promote In-Depth Development of Scientific Research

To promote the development of the technology industry in Macao and broaden the network for attracting investment and talent, the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) of the Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao IPIM), together with the Talent Development Committee and the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone Hengqin, recently visited Hangzhou and other areas in East China. They attended the " Promotion Conference on Cross-Border Financial Services for Chinese Assets Going Global and Macao International Platform Supporting International Economic Circulation " (hereinafter referred to as "the Conference"), organised by Luso International Banking Ltd., to introduce Macao's investment environment and industrial policies. Nearly 80 local enterprises and business associations in fields such as technology innovation, pharmaceuticals, and finance from Hangzhou attended the event. During the visit, they also met with several well-known technology companies and business associations in Hangzhou for investment promotion and inspected various industry-academia-research entities in East China to learn about their operations and publicise Macao's research and business environment.



CE: Deepening judicial cooperation between Macao and Portuguese-speaking jurisdictions

The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, met with heads of the delegations in Macao attending the 13th edition of the Forum of Presidents of the Supreme Courts of Justice of Portuguese-Speaking Countries and Territories, to exchange views on enhancing judicial cooperation between Macao and Portuguese-speaking jurisdictions.


Intermittent interruption of certain electronic services due to maintenance of IAM information system

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out maintenance of the information system from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. on 24 October 2025. During the period, certain electronic services will be interrupted intermittently. The public are advised to pay attention to the arrangement.


DSEDJ and higher education institutions visit Brazil to promote educational cooperation and international exchange

To advance the integrated development of education, technology and talent, promote the internationalisation of higher education in Macao, and enhance the overall strength of local higher education continuously, a delegation of representatives from local higher education institutions, led by Teng Sio Hong, deputy director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), travelled to São Paulo, Brasília and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil from 10 to 15 October (local time in Brazil), where they visited Brazilian universities, a technological innovation park, a technology and innovation centre and other sites, and signed multiple agreements on educational cooperation. The journey yielded fruitful results with a total of eight cooperation agreements signed and intent of cooperation in five initiatives confirmed between Macao higher education institutions and Brazilian universities and organisations, thereby strengthening bilateral partnerships in areas such as academic exchange, faculty and student exchange, as well as scientific research collaboration.


45% of Employers Have Yet to Pay Contributions — FSS Urges Prompt Use of the “Business & Associations Platform” and “Macao One Account”

As of 21 October, approximately 11,300 employers have not yet paid the obligatory system contributions to the Social Security System for their employees for the third quarter of 2025. This accounts for around 45% of all obligated employers. With the payment deadline nearing and service points becoming more crowded, the Social Security Fund (commonly referred to as FSS in Macao) urges employers and residents to use the “Business & Associations Platform” or “Macao One Account” to make their payments as soon as possible, avoiding late fees and long wait times.
