Commemorative postmark cancellation service of “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day”

To celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announces that two Temporary Post Counters will be set up at the Philatelic Shop of the General Post Office and Shop of the Communications Museum on 17th May 2026 to provide commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day”. Opening hours are as follows:


New edition of the “Book for Book” activity launched in May to facilitate the sharing of resources and foster reading habits

In order to foster reading culture in the community and disseminate the concept of “enriching life through reading”, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) has been carrying out the “Book for Book” activity since 2024, which has been well received and supported by citizens. This year, the "Where culture flourishes, happiness happens" — Book for Book activity will be held again in various neighbourhoods in Macao starting in May. By creating a book exchange platform, IC aims to promote the circulation and sharing of reading resources within the community, allowing more citizens to experience the joy and value of reading.


Public Library of IC launches Books and the City Issue 42 under the theme “Macao Just Read” to promote reading

The Public Library of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has released Issue 42 of its newsletter Books and the City, themed “Macao Just Read” in alignment with the Regulation to Promote Public Reading. This edition highlights the library’s efforts in promoting reading – including the “10-minute Read” campaign that serves to continuously foster citizens’ reading habits – and features insights from a seasoned reading advocate, a Macao bookstore operator, and an academic library representative on Macao’s reading culture. Readers are also invited to explore the city’s reading spaces. Members of the public are welcome to access or get the publication.


Sharing and exchange session by Hangzhou innovation and technology enterprises held at UM

The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at the University of Macau (UM) hosted the BrainCo Sharing and Exchange Session as part of the ‘Face-to-Face Meeting between Hangzhou Innovation and Technology Enterprises and Macao Youth 2026’ activity series. Over 100 faculty members and students attended the event to learn about the latest technological advancements.


“Smart Immigration Clearance” Applied to Upgraded One-stop Joint Services Lanes at Hengqin Port

To implement the spirit of the important instructions of “fulfilling the function of early and pilot implementation” and “bringing the integration of Hengqin and Macao to a higher level” given by President Xi Jinping during his inspection to Macao and the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the Public Security Police Force, the Public Security Forces Affairs Bureau, the Zhuhai General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection and the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin collaborate to promote intelligence upgrade at the Hengqin Port, enhance clearance convenience and efficiency and achieve high quality development of Macao-Hengqin integration with technology empowerment. To further unleash the benefits of Smart Immigration Clearance, through the consultation between the relevant units of Macao and Hengqin, it is decided that Smart Immigration Clearance measures will be introduced at the One-stop Joint Services Lanes at the Hengqin Port on 7 May 2026. This marks a new step in the smart development of the Hengqin Port and further enhances the facilitation standard of cross-boundary travel between Macao and Hengqin.


UM Department of Communication holds CommFest 2026

The Department of Communication in the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) at the University of Macau (UM) held CommFest 2026. Themed ‘Re:Connect’, the six-day event focused on the transformation of communication studies and the industry in the context of rapid technological advancements and changing times. The event also featured a line-up of industry professionals for dialogue and exchange, attracting a large audience from UM and beyond.


Monetary and financial statistics – March 2026

According to statistics released today (4 May) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply retreated in March 2026. Meanwhile, both resident deposits and loans* decreased from a month earlier.
