IAM holds seminar dedicated to veterinary law and registration through Macao One Account is accepted from today

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and the Council of Veterinary Medicine Professionals (CPMV) will jointly hold two sessions of seminar dedicated to popularisation of veterinary law on 25 July to strengthen the veterinary practitioners’ understanding of the law, in particular the rights and obligations of registered veterinary surgeons. The “Code of Professional Ethics of Veterinary Surgeons”, the professional obligations and laws and regulations relevant to animals will be introduced during the seminar. IAM continues to strengthen the awareness of law compliance of the sector, protect the professional interests of veterinary surgeons and improve the service standard of the sector through different channels, so as to jointly promote the development of animal welfare in Macao.


DSEDJ organises ‘Student and Youth Show in Celebration of Macao’s Return to the Motherland cum International Youth Dance Festival’ Photography Contest

The Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) is holding a photogrgaphy contest concurrently with the Student and Youth Show in Celebration of Macao’s Return to the Motherland cum International Youth Dance Festival, which will take place from 20 to 25 July. Macao residents are welcome to participate in the contest and take the opportunity to capture memorable moments of the event and join together in the double celebration.


Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – June 2024

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today (15 July) that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP232.3 billion (USD28.88 billion) at the end of June 2024. The reserves increased by 1.7% from the revised value of MOP228.4 billion (USD28.36 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-June 2024 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 92.9% of pataca M2 at end-May 2024.


Exhibition “Old Meets New: A Historical Photo Exhibition Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland” inaugurated showcasing the urban landscapes and cultural characteristics of Macao

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland, the Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will hold the exhibition “Old Meets New: A Historical Photo Exhibition Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland” was inaugurated today (12 July) in the lobby of the Macao Museum. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Acting President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Cheang Kai Meng; the Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Yin Rutao; the Member of the Cultural Heritage Committee, Wu Chou Kit; the Director of the Macao Museum, Lou Ho Ian; and the President of the General Assembly of the Photographic Society of Macao, Kuok Keng Man. The exhibition is held until 8 September 2024. All are welcome to visit.




【Foster community economy】“Stay Chill, Play Cool – Macao!” extends to central district with debut of mega installation and local market

To spur the community economy and integration of “tourism + culture and creativity”, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) kicks off the second stage of the project “Stay Chill, Play Cool – Macao!” today (12 July) until 1 December. A mega installation themed as Macao Tourism Mascot MAK MAK is set up at Ritz Building at Senado Square, to create a brand-new hotspot for check-in on social media. A Stay Chill Macao Market is held concurrently in the Exhibition Hall of Ritz Building. Residents and visitors are welcome to join.


Tourist price index (TPI) for the 2nd quarter of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Tourist Price Index (TPI) for the second quarter of 2024 went up by 2.72% year-on-year to 140.96. The rise stemmed from dearer prices of clothing and jewellery, as well as rising charges for restaurant services; however, falling hotel room rates offset part of the increase. Among the various sections of goods and services, price indices of Clothing & Footwear, Miscellaneous Goods and Restaurant Services grew by 7.42%, 7.10% and 6.79% year-on-year respectively, while the indices of Entertainment & Cultural Activities and Accommodation dropped by 14.92% and 4.39%.



UM scholar’s book on computational pharmaceutics published by John Wiley & Sons

The book Exploring Computational Pharmaceutics – AI and Modeling in Pharma 4.0, edited by Ouyang Defang, associate professor at the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, and the Department of Public Health and Medicinal Administration of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Macau (UM), has been published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The book is the second edition of Computational Pharmaceutics. Bringing together leading pharmaceutical experts from academia, industry, and regulatory agencies, the book provides an overview of the changes and advances made in computational pharmaceutics over the past decade and explores the potential and future outlook of the Pharma 4.0 era.
