MPU Bell Centre of English Spring 2026 Courses Now Open for Registration

The Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) Bell Centre of English is launching a new series of Spring 2026 English courses covering a wide range of areas. These include IELTS foundation, intermediate, and advanced classes, as well as weekend intensive classes. The centre also offers courses in English speaking enhancement for undergraduates, academic presentation skills for postgraduates, high-quality thesis writing for postgraduates, English for job applications, SAT preparation, and various introductory English courses.



Macao Chinese Orchestra presents the concert “Dawn Breaks” on Friday (16 January) embracing the dawn with a repertoire of new and classic Chinese music

The Macao Chinese Orchestra will present the first concert “Dawn Breaks” on 16 January (Friday), at 7:45pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Small Auditorium. Themed around the break of day that symbolises hope and new beginnings, the concert “Dawn Breaks” will lead the audience to embark on a thrilling artistic journey and embrace the dawn through a repertoire of new and classic Chinese music.


UM holds Open Day across three locations

The University of Macau (UM) held its 45th Anniversary Open Day today (11 January), attracting students, parents, and members of the public to learn about the university’s admissions, education model, and campus facilities. A wide range of interactive activities allowed visitors to experience UM’s academic atmosphere and campus culture firsthand.


UM kicks off 45th anniversary celebrations

The University of Macau (UM) held the opening ceremony of its 45th anniversary celebrations today (11 January) at the UM Lakeside Theatre. The event brought together Macao SAR government officials, representatives from central government offices, legislators, members of the education sector, scholarship donors, UM partners, as well as faculty, students, and alumni to officially launch the anniversary celebrations and share in the joy of the university’s 45th milestone.


MPU Open Day 2026 Showcases the Pulse of Innovation and Receives Enthusiastic Response

To celebrate its 45th anniversary, Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) held its 2026 Open Day today (10 January), themed “The Pulse of Innovation”. The event featured a variety of activities, such as degree programme presentations, thematic exhibitions, workshops, experiential activities, information sessions, admission consultations, campus tours, Chit-Chat with MPU, and student performances. MPU showcased distinctive educational provision, programme features, research innovation, social engagement initiatives, and international collaboration to attract over 4,800 participants, including prospective high school graduates, professionals, parents, and students from local and international communities. The response was overwhelmingly positive.


Tourist price index (TPI) for the fourth quarter of 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average Tourist Price Index (TPI) for 2025 went up by 1.71% year-on-year, on account of dearer jewellery prices and higher entertainment and leisure expenses; yet, lower hotel room rates offset part of the increase. Analysed by section of goods and services, price indices of Miscellaneous Goods (e.g. jewellery, watches, arts and crafts) and Entertainment & Cultural Activities grew by 13.46% and 8.20% year-on-year respectively, whereas the price indices of Accommodation (-2.88%) and Medicine & Personal Goods (-1.93%) decreased.


Residential property price index for September – November 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for September - November 2025 was 191.7, down by 0.1% over the previous period (August - October 2025). The index for existing residential units (204.2) decreased by 0.1%, while that for pre-sale residential units (237.1) went up by 0.5%.


Statistics on electronic payment transaction value – restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for November 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the electronic payment transaction values (hereinafter referred to as transaction values) for restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade in November 2025 grew by 3.5% and 3.7% year-on-year respectively.


UM to establish five science and technology faculties through faculty restructuring

The University of Macau (UM) will establish five science and technology faculties through the restructuring of part of its existing faculties. Student enrolment in science and technology disciplines is expected to reach 14,500 in the future. Yonghua Song, rector of UM, said that the initiative will significantly expand the scope and depth of UM’s scientific and technological innovation capacity and provide strong support for its development into an internationally recognised university of excellence. The five science and technology faculties will officially commence operations on 1 August 2026.
