UM, HK PolyU establish Joint Laboratory for Robotics and Embodied Intelligence and launch dual PhD programme

The University of Macau (UM) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) signed an agreement today (12 February) at UM to establish the first joint laboratory co-funded by Macao and Hong Kong—the Joint Laboratory for Robotics and Embodied Intelligence. The initiative aims to strengthen collaborative innovation in higher education and scientific research in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. In addition, UM and PolyU announced the launch of a dual PhD programme featuring joint supervision by faculty members from both universities, marking a significant step forward in collaboration on frontier technologies and high-level talent development. The joint PhD programme is now open for applications.




【Full Horsepower】Macao Grand Prix Museum presents special activities for Chinese New Year

The Macao Grand Prix Museum (the “Museum”), under the management of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), will roll out a festive activity namely “Full Horsepower Fortune Boost” from 17 to 23 February (1st day – 7th day of Chinese New Year). Organised by the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the Chongqing Municipal Development Committee of Culture and Tourism, and the Department of Culture and Tourism of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, coordinated by the Center for Ethnic and Folk Literature and Art Development of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, and co-organised by the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, the exhibition “Splendid Colours - Embroidery Art Exhibition from Chongqing and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region” was inaugurated today (11 February) at the Tap Seac Gallery. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Acting President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Cheang Kai Meng; the First-Level Inspector of the Chongqing Municipal Development Committee of Culture and Tourism, Xing Jun; the Director of the Center for Ethnic and Folk Literature and Art Development of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, Lan Jing; the Director of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Division of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Luo Jing; and the Member of the Executive Committee of TDM, Cheang Kong Pou.

Fitch Ratings (Fitch) announces today (11 February) that it maintains the credit ratings (long-term foreign and local currency issuer default ratings) of the Macao SAR at “AA” with a “stable” outlook.


Macao Polytechnic University and Macao Pui Va Middle School Signed Cooperation Agreement to Promote AI Innovation in Education

Coinciding with the 45th anniversary of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), the 30th anniversary celebrations of Macao Pui Va Middle School, and the launch of the National 15th Five-Year Plan, MPU and Pui Va Middle School have signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen collaboration between higher education and basic education. This marks the beginning of in-depth cooperation between the two institutions in areas such as sharing educational resources, teacher training, and curriculum development. The partnership aims to cultivate talent equipped with AI literacy and innovative capabilities, injecting new momentum into the education and technological advancement of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The signing ceremony for the cooperation agreement was held at MPU on 10 February, attended by over a hundred teachers and students from both institutions, creating a lively atmosphere.
