Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the “36^th Macao Arts Festival” presents the classic ballet Swan Lake by the Shanghai Ballet this week. A press meeting was held on the morning of June 16 at the Macao Cultural Centre, in which the main cast members met with the media to introduce the highlights of the show and exchange ideas on character interpretation, stage presentation and the rehearsal process, among others. From 11 to 12 June 2026, the Macao University of Tourism (UTM), in collaboration with the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and EHL Hospitality Business School, Switzerland, jointly organised the executive development programme “The Art of Leadership.” Designed for mid- to senior-level professionals in Macao’s hotel industry, the programme focused on strengthening leadership capabilities and nurturing a culture of service excellence. Through a practical and forward-looking approach, participants explored the shift from traditional service management to service leadership, gaining tools and frameworks to inspire teams, reinforce service culture, and create lasting, people-centred value.

To deepen exchanges and cooperation between Macao and Portugal and drive the high-quality development of the Sino-Lusophone platform, Dr. Fanny Vong, Rector of Macao University of Tourism (UTM), and Prof. Paulo Pereira, Rector of NOVA University Lisbon (NOVA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective universities at the opening ceremony of the Fourth Forum of University Rectors from China and Portuguese-speaking Countries on 15 June. The two universities will engage in practical cooperation including talent cultivation, academic research, faculty and student exchanges. Through these efforts, both parties aim to promote the development of culture and tourism education between Macao and Portugal.

The Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and the Chinese‒Portuguese Bilingual Talent Training Alliance, comprising the University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic University, the Macau University of Science and Technology, the City University of Macau and the University of Saint Joseph, jointly organise the 4^th Forum for Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries from 15 to 17 June this year. Participants will engage in in-depth discussions around the theme ‘Empowerment Through Technology and Interconnection Through Language — Macao‒Hengqin Synergy in Joint Cultivation of Chinese‒Portuguese International Talent’, thereby fostering multilateral exchange and cooperation. The current edition of the Forum coincides with the 35^th Annual Meeting of the Association of Portuguese Language Universities (AULP). Together, the two events are drawing in over 150 leaders and representatives of higher education institutions and organisations from Portuguese-speaking countries, including Portugal, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique and Timor-Leste, as well as from the Chinese mainland and Macao.
