Combating illegal money exchange activities and maintaining the stability of the financial system

The Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) recently received reports that several shops in Macao which mainly sold products to non-resident workers were suspected of providing illegal money exchange and remittance services to the public. The AMCM, with the assistance of the Judiciary Police, recently conducted investigations at six shops located at various areas of Macao. Initial investigations found that certain shops used overseas mobile wallets or bank accounts to illegally remit abroad foreign currencies converted from the MOP received from customers.




2026MIECF to Hold Themed Matching Sessions to Help Enterprises Expand Overseas and Explore Green Business Opportunities

In line with the theme of the 2026 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as the “2026MIECF”), focusing on “Low‑carbon, Zero Waste Cities: Embarking on a Global Collaboration”, four themed matching sessions will be held during the exhibition period to provide an efficient business matching platform for domestic and overseas enterprises and institutions. These sessions aim to promote environmental technologies, green investment, and market co-operation, assisting Macao enterprises in “going global” and exploring new green business opportunities. Technology systems will also be introduced on site to enhance matching efficiency and assist enterprises in their transformation and exploration of new green business opportunities.


Macao Union Medical Center organizes public health lecture, encouraging public to prioritize gastrointestinal health and shingles prevention and treatment

The Islands Healthcare Complex – Macao Medical Center of Peking Union Medical College Hospital (hereinafter referred to as “Macao Union Medical Center”) recently organized a public health lecture themed “Stomach discomfort? It may not be a small problem” and “Warning signs before the onset of shingles! An essential lesson for people over 50.” The lecture was conducted by specialists from the gastroenterology and dermatology departments.



CCAC uncovers suspected illicit acts of two prison guards to assist inmates in smuggling contraband

The Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) has uncovered alleged passive bribery by a serving prison guard from the Correctional Services Bureau and alleged abuse of power by another prison guard who is currently retired. Both were suspected of assisting two inmates in smuggling contraband into the prison.



MGTO keeps optimizing Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme and calls for 2026’s applications from catering businesses and travel agencies from tomorrow (11 March)

The Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme (“QTSAS” or “the Scheme”) of 2026 is open for applications from travel agencies and the food and beverage sector from 11 to 31 March. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) held a presentation seminar today (10 March) to elaborate the call for applications, assessment, award conferment and means of participation this year, with an introduction to the optimized program and new awards. Businesses are encouraged to optimize tourism services through continuous participation and bring out the unique appeal and warm hospitality of Macao in concerted effort.


IAM and ISAF hold joint exchange meeting with veterinary surgeons and pharmaceutical sector

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) recently collaborated with the Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau (ISAF) to hold an exchange meeting with the representatives from Associação de Comerciantes de Medicamentos de Macau, Macao Medical & Pharmaceutical Suppliers Association and the veterinary surgeons sector to discuss the use of veterinary medicines in Macao, with the aim of fostering sectoral synergy and cooperation and facilitating the diverse and stable supply of veterinary medicines in Macao.
