[Macao-Hengqin Synergy & Multiple Entry for Tourist Groups] Fostering MICE Industry’s Qualitative Development

Lei Wai Nong, Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government and Director of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, went to the Co-operation Zone, with a delegation of about 20 members from the Committee for the Development of Conventions and Exhibitions on 13 August 2024. The delegation conducted on-site inspections to Hengqin MICE venues and hotels and MICE facilities invested by Macao enterprises, to gain an in-depth understanding of the latest development of the MICE industry in the Co-operation Zone, and had exchanged opinions with Hengqin MICE operators to strengthen mutual interconnection and interaction, in order to foster closer co-operation of Macao’s and Hengqin’s MICE sectors.


UM orientation activities help new students adapt to university life

The University of Macau (UM) has organised a series of activities under the ‘The Way to UM–New Student Orientation Programme’ to help new students quickly adapt to the new learning and living environments at the university, and to encourage them to establish good communication and cooperative relationships with their parents. UM Rector Yonghua Song, Vice Rector Mok Kai Meng, and Dean of Students Pang Chap Chong visited the ten residential colleges to welcome new students and their parents, and to oversee the move-in arrangements for new students.


“Fantastic Art World from Centre Pompidou” offers a wonderland for families to enjoy art

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, MGM and the Centre Pompidou in France, the exhibition “Fantastic Art World from Centre Pompidou” is one of the highlights of the 1st Macao International Children’s Arts Festival. Exhibitions and workshops are held at the Main Venue located at the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) which features three theme zones, namely “Passing Through”, “Laterna Magica” and “Rhythms, Shapes, Colours”, while the interactive installation exhibition “The Plantamouves” is held at the Satellite Venue located at the Former Barra Slaughterhouse Site. All are welcome to get close to the arts and from diverse perspectives using all senses. The “Fantastic Art World from Centre Pompidou” is held until 27 October and tickets are on sale from today.


Adjustments to Macao Special Administrative Region Travel Alerts

With social and tourism activities returning to normalcy after the COVID pandemic, the frequency of travel has been increasing for Macao residents. Therefore, the Level 2 travel alert issued for all countries/regions on 19 March 2020 has been adjusted. The number of countries and travel destinations covered by the Macao SAR Travel Alert System has expanded to a total of 82.


UM, CUHK, CUHK-Shenzhen jointly organise Green Ambassadors Training Camp

Henry Fok Pearl Jubilee College (HFPJC) of the University of Macau (UM), Lee Woo Sing College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and Diligentia College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) (CUHK-Shenzhen) jointly organised the Green Ambassadors Training Camp. Thirty students, faculty and staff from the three colleges participated in the training camp, with the aim of further promoting sustainable development and raising awareness of environmental protection.


Tickets for the Macao Chinese Orchestra 2024-25 Concert Season are on sale from 13 August

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, co-ordinated by the Macao Orchestra Company, Limited, and supported by the BOC Macau, the Macao Chinese Orchestra 2024-25 Concert Season will be inaugurated on 1 September. The new Concert Season will present 14 distinctive concerts, allowing music aficionados to have rich music experience. Tickets are on sale through the Macau Ticketing Network from 12pm on 13 August, with various discounts available.



Small and medium-sized enterprise credit statistics – First half of 2024

According to statistics released today (12 August) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, newly approved small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) credit decreased in the first half of 2024. Meanwhile, the outstanding balance of SME loans dropped while the share of SME loans to major industries remained stable.



Chief Executive Election set for 13 October

The date for the Chief Executive Election has been set for 13 October, according to Executive Order 40/2024 published in the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Official Gazette.
